After 4 games MacKinnon has been relieved of the coaching duties at Brisbane. Vanderjagt will take up the role until a new coach is announced.

Apparently Todd Purves will be the next head coach.

Very little info is out there about him.

Lmao, honestly this is what happens when players dictate. Did the bullets owners think just playing offensively would work, at least they played a bit D before Duncan got the bullet. Most off that roster is either overrated or on the way to retirement bar a few.

" There's a sense the playing group is unhappy with the state of affairs within the Brisbane Bullets organisation, sources said."

Understatement of the year.

1. Todd Purves wtf.

2. Mackinnon gone at end of season, if he lasts that long.

The Tomlinsons who ran the Blazers like a Saturday stall at the Carrara Markets did a far better job than the shit that has been fed to hungry basketball supporters in Brisbane.

I see he coached in the prestigious PBA, great signing.

It's a budget coach signing, has achieved nothing as a coach. I previously said having martin as an owner was a big mistake, the dude is a known cheapskate.

Better to try him now and find out he's shit, than sign him in the off-season and find out he's shit once he's under a full-season contract.

I've been listening to the Roundtables on Cluch and Matt McQuade has consistently said there's no point cutting a guy because it's not going to turn the season around, but that's not really the point. It's a trial run for next year. Get your data now then you have more information to make the decision come March.

NBL Brisbane Bullets' coaching merry-go-round

Holy shit, it gets worse.

Was Mackinnon's appointment an attempt to edge him out of the club?

On Monday afternoon, Mackinnon -- who was in his position as the Bullets' interim head coach -- was offered the role of head coach for the remainder of the 2022-23 NBL season, with the proviso that he step down from the team's General Manager of Basketball duties, sources said.

Absolute incompetence:
The Bullets announced Vanderjagt's temporary promotion in a press release before he was informed

Former head coach Duncan had limited input when it came to key roster decisions during his tenure, sources said. This extended to the NBA Summer League in July, where Duncan was told he was not required in Las Vegas as critical scouting and roster decisions were made, even after offering to pay for his own flights and accommodation

It's a damn shame because there's been some progress made elsewhere in terms of member and community engagement and the crowd numbers themselves are still healthy, with I'd argue an improved atmosphere (member since readmission).

Seems a situation with too many cooks? Allegedly Duncan given little if no input into signings, supposedly Mackinnon likewise? It's almost impossible to tell where the buck itself stops.

Not sure how Mckinnon was qualified for either of those positions in the first place?

Well, I know he was a great player. He's coach in the school system & junior rep in Qld & been an AC with the Bullets for a couple of seasons, plus owned a Crust pizza store or 2.

The reporting about Duncan being denied the opportunity to join the Bullets group in Vegas for scouting/rostering/networking opportunities - !! on his own buck !! - is an absolute joke.

Ownership group needs to get serious (hah yeah, unlikely) and take a good long look at CEO McLennan and GM Mackinnon this coming off-season. Both have performed poorly, Brisbane can't sustain their current trajectory with another season of absolute mediocrity.

Has MacKinnon even been able to do his job as gm of basketball with the ceo and budget?

Not taking Duncan to summer league shows how much trust they had for him!
