36ers Ownership

GK is now the sole owner of the 36ers increasing his stake to 100% buying the 19% stake from JVG's group of investors.

As 81% owner he's been 100% responsible for the debacle of a club they’re become under his ownership.

Whilst we haven't been great in recent years, things are looking much better this season.

This suggests the biggest mistake may now have been corrected and with this buyout, put behind us.

Sure GK has been front and centre in these decisions but you can also say by him owning 81%, he is 100% responsible for the rest of us still having a team to support

From an outside perspective, he brought in JVG as he thought he'd be the difference maker, now that showed inexperience. Now the ball is in his and CJ court hopefully it’ll turn around for Sixers.

It's easy to blame Grant Kelly for the stuff ups in the past, and maybe there is blame to be had, but there is a process to becoming a great GM for a basketball club, especially if you're not from a sporting background.

A lot of GMs have fallen for the JVG snake oil and Kelly was no different. But to his credit, he saw the ruse for what it was and moved him on.

As for this season, I cant fault anything the club has done. From the signings, to the sponsorships and partnerships, the '23 36ers preseason campaign has been on-song and note perfect.

With CJ clearly having more say in the signings, and the understanding that you get nowhere without good imports in this league, the Sixers look primed to turn a corner after a five years in the wilderness.
