VIC

Some odd choices all over, hard to see the women being in the mix.

Are there a number of bottom agers?

I am only familiar with the boys at this age and noticed there were a number of bottom agers on the active and emergency lists.

I don't know if this is normal for Vic Metro U18s or a new approach for U18 and possibly U16 teams.

I guess if you think your teams are going to be strong enough you can carry more bottom agers to help them get ready earlier for possible national duty.

I think the starting 5 for Country and Metro women will be fine, there is no depth in either team though. If Portlock and Harvey have improved markedly from their time at COE they might even both do well. The 06 age group doesn't seem that strong anywhere.

I'm pretty confident Deas will be a standout performer for Metro, she will have to be as the other guards in that team are not strong. Clarke is a good player and I think Puoch will surprise a few people, shes really good offensively. Webb will be a dominant player for Country, her with Nightingale gives them some good size and strength, they also have Taylor as a top end perimeter scorer, if Harvey is good then the lack of depth won't matter.

Maddi Potts should also be a standout for Metro, walking bucket & plays hard, similar to Deas.

Potts is probably a better shooter, but she doesn't have anywhere near the self creation ability nor is she a great on ball defender. Not on the same level and I think the lack of a quality point guard will hurt her.

Was talking about qld s favourites last year in boys over vic m.
Not sure qld s we're clear favourites in the girls last year and wont be this year either.

Lots of people baffled as to why not one of burrows, wickstrom, Kurkowski, Crichton made sapphires last year. Only betson made the team.

Thanks for the clarification. Basketball SA don't even bother updating their own website with recent news. Using a graphic on Facebook as your primary method of releasing news is a bit unprofessional IMO.

No idea on the Boys side. I think Vic Metro Girls will be difficult to beat. The NSW team has a lot of bottom agers and, apart from Hall, I think they will struggle. SA metro will be pretty strong too.

NSW Metro girls won't struggle, they took apart the country team last week and didn’t really have their foot to the floor. Hall gets the accolades but they are far from a one-person team, top age or bottom with these girls doesn’t mean a thing.
