Willeton over Joondalup on the GF. Joondalup couldn't hit a barn on Q4.

Nothing better than seeing the wolves choke another grand final

Agreed. It's therapeutic almost. Jury still out on whether or not Nix can actually coach or cheque book talent just gets him regular season wins. Also of note, not one Wolves junior was in that rotation tonight, not ONE.

My favourite parts is when Nix said last week they've had resilience challenges all year.

What when you get injuries you just replace them?

Chequebook champions - which is all good as long as you win the whole thing

In keeping with this seasons tradition , who do wolves announce this week as their latest signing after last nights loss?

Losing Steindl so you would have to say a big, you doubt Benson would be back either. Denehey could be tempted elsewhere after seeing Nix outcoached on the big stage, Parker-Williams has shown in the past she's happy to relocate. Leaves you with Belcher and a bunch of underappreciated juniors.

Playing personnel changes aside, surely this repeated habit of losing Grand Finals makes those north of Hodges Drive question the need for an entire netball team of Assistant Coaches. To put it into perspective, 8 coaches lost to 3 last night. Granted one of those 3 is arguably one of the best female players this state has ever produced, but at what point do you say ok let's wind this back a bit and get two or three really good assistants rather than seven average ones. I mean what do number six and seven do exactly that number two and three don't already do at other clubs? It's both the Wolves teams too. Maybe thats the reason their shots weren't dropping late in the fourth last night, because they have to hi five twenty odd people every time they are subbed out!

Wonder if this one will actually be available on the website and app. Last night's wasn't, even though they advertised that it was.

Where? I couldn't find it on the nbl1.com.au/watch/ page, and the game wasn't listed at all on the fixtures page.

Leary's half court buzzer beater at the end of the third was the turning point. The flames had all the momentum, but that and the subsequent tech free throw from Hire’s tantrum allowed Hawks 4 points when they couldn’t score. Take that away and it could have been very different for Boof & co.

But a very exciting grand final, much better than rocking up knowing the Wolfpack would choke

It's sad that a great GF was overshadowed by some ordinary officiating. Neutral supporter tonight but the men in grey were far too noticeable for mine. Kudos to the Rockingham supporters who were great all night but the Hawks deserved that one down the stretch. Mitch Clarke should have been MVP

Agree re above the refs far too keen to be seen. Disappointing that Hire and Jervis didn't adjust to Campbells anxiety to be in charge of all things. Looking forward to not seeing him on court again. Rocko did well to stay in it and hit the front in the 4th but couldn't sustain it. A few silly fouls and it was quickly beyond them without Jervis at the end. I thought Clarke was the game MVP, though Ferguson was really good against Jervis who took his three point game away.

As a neutral observer there were a few calls which took away from the game early but the two below made it very tough for Rockingham.
3/4 time buzzer Hire takes a charge, don't mind that it was a no call but by the letter of the book that's a charge. Theres no way they should call a tech for a clear missed call.
Later in the 4th Riak called for an offensive foul going for a loose ball, 50/50 contest nothing in it just a wing player vs a small guard. About 2 minutes later Perry Lakes player throws Riak to the ground (more blatant) running after a loose ball, no call and they score an easy 2.

Hire was late, it should've been an and-one.

I never used to rate Ferguson. I used to play against him in juniors for a few years (probably around 13-16yo) and he was nothing special apart from his height, if you defended him the right way he wasn't too hard to stop even if you were a lot shorter. I was surprised when the cats picked him as a DP after not seeing him play for a while.

It's crazy how much his game has improved, kudos to him.

Grand Final highlight, the son of Karina Tudor (nee Moore) and nephew of Commissioner Travis Moore, nailing the half time half court shot competition at his first attempt. Matt Leary clearly taking notes as he would nail one from the same spot less than thirty minutes later

"Ferguson leaves to go back to college this week."

So hows does that work? Does he go back as a Senior? Having missed two years.
Or is he still counted as a Sophomore?

Not sure what Fergusons exact status is but he has at least 1yrs eligibility left.
He was always going back to school.
That's why didn’t take a paid DP spot with the cats.

"That's why didn't take a paid DP spot with the cats."

I always assumed there was some kind of exemption or allowance. Several DPs have gone onto College. Didn't know it meant they didn't get paid.
Not sure how that's even allowable, as under the CBA there's a minimum salary for DPs.

I thought that was part of the reason that guys like Lo Buluk, Travers, Shervill, et al, accepted contracts with the first year as a DP?

Cant they just clasify them as training players?

Actual Training Players (as opposed to guys that are just invited to training) generally do get paid by the Cats.
Besides' TPs obviously can't suit up or play.
