Lamelo ball 18 today

Big day for the young man.
Happy birthday melo, first up training session then straight to the local RSL for parmi and beers.

Who is the youngest player to play in the NBL?

I remember Daniel Egan was 16/17 in his rookie season. I imagine early days of the league there were a bunch of younger players, before college was a consideration for most

Paul Webb played for Brisbane in the 80s believe he was either 15 or 16.
Some others to play before 18th birthday including DPs are
Luc Longley (17)
Wani Swaka Lo Buluk (17)
Sam MacKinnon (17)

I'm sure there are many others that other posters can fill in.

Egan didn't play a lot in his rookie season, but when he did he looked ok. His second season he started to get more regular minutes and actually contributed well.

I had a look on google it's hard to find much info on the NBL players rookie years.

NBL and AB needs to spend some cash on developing and updating players and teams database.

I think the sportstg website has all the historical stats of players, though basically no other info.

It's a shame the ball family aren’t here to celebrate his 18th with him.

How long till we see the Lavar in the gong?
Just in the last few days Illawarra house prices have jumped up by 20%

LaVar has been a bit more low-key lately it seems. Or the (social)media folks are ignoring him. Hopefully the former.

According to Sports TG, 15 ppg 2.2apg 45% FG 39% three point 87% FT in 27 minutes a game. Pretty damn good i'd say!

That's real good. Does that make him the NBL rookie goat? His 3 point shot was magic.

That's a bigger discussion. Newley and Ingles both had great rookie campaigns

Sam MacKinnon also had an impressive rookie year (1994) turning 18 later that season.

Best rookie season = Gaze as above.
Best rookie single game performance = Ingles on debut (!!!) in Dragons vs. Kings at the AIS Arena.
