Hammer shooting challenge - thumbs up

A big thumbs up to this new segment during the broadcast.

For those who haven't seen it, Heal takes on one of the games' players (recorded before a game) in a shoot-out of 3 point shots from 3 locations. In between the shots he engages in a bit of banter and chat with the player to let the audience learn more about them.

For example, in today's segment he shot against Cadee. And you learnt that Cadee was a Sydney-boy growing up but did not like the Kings or Heal! But said it's ok to be playing for the Kings now, as the Razorbacks no longer exist.

Anyone else enjoying this segment?

At what stage of the broadcast was this shown?

Wow, what a revelation - who would have thought the Cadee family were West Sydney supporters, after all they were involved behind the original Westars. Anything non-obvious said? and how was Heal's chucking.

At least Cadee had an easy way of saying that Heal is a c**t with his backstory.

The best thing about this segment is it puts the player in a situation they are comfortable in. And the quality of the interview benefits from it.

Great segment. Very natural and well edited.

I would imagine that was non-obvious to around 90% of the viewership.

True, but lauding it on a forum with hardcores like us isn't getting by me.

Kobe, look I'm not taking the piss out of you or anything, but do you ever feel the need to dish some original thoughts or discussion points?

It just seems to be correcting people all the time. If you really know your stuff, I'd like you to hit us with your own thoughts. Again, not taking the piss, just saying.

FWIW I agree with you on the above point.

Great segment though, really enjoyed it.

You hit the nail on the head Manu. He can never be wrong if he just corrects and doesn't out himself in a position where he could be wrong with an original thought. Actually there was that Cooke thread which isn't going to well for him :)

Well obviously 90% wouldn't know (you said it as if I didn't know that about the TV viewing n00bs) but the original anon using it as evidence for the spot as being impressive on a specialist forum like this one doesn't hold sway. Good concept though, can't wait to find out something I don't know.

Ah Yeah, full credit to you, Kobe, for that Cooke thread. Jumped the gun a little, but good shit.

Got any hot takes on the Taipans?

I also thought it was a good segment.

I'd say that 99% of Hoops’ readers would not be aware of Cadee’s West Sydney connection, just his accident...

Having seen Heal messing around prior to getting ready to go on air, I'm kinda surprised he missed one.

Great segment. While watching it, I was just waiting for heal or Cadee to mention the car accident. Luckily not a word was said!

Can't wait for him to get Casper or CG43 out there, maybe a trio shootout ?

The NBL deserve props for upping the broadcast effort this year they way they have.

Williams is still an annoying commentator trying to make bold confident claims everytime he talks "i'm telling you now..." *mute*. BUT, his Fantasy segments are good and it's well shot.

The live crosses when there are double headers are a good idea as long as you have the right commentators: Redhage was a fail to begin with, but Casey is good at it.

I'd love to see the hammer shoot around, it sounds like a good idea.

The scorebug looks good, I don't understand why SKY always has to alter it: they did it lastyear and again this year. Why????

In 2001 I had the opportunity to shoot around with Hammer, along with 3 other blokes

He tells us he'll hit 50 free throws in a row if we give him 3 chances.

First attempt.....11.

Second attempt....66 in a row.

He told us his record was 134.

Great segment! Love getting insights into players thinking and thoughts.

Love to see Heal v Cotton, or Heal v Ware/Goulding.

Wish NBL.TV would store videos of post-match interviews, and segments like this for viewing.

Umm yeah, that's what NBL paying for all production costs means.
