Abby Bishop WNBL Player of the Month
Canberra Capitals forward Abby Bishop has been named the Player of the Month for January in the Australian Defence Force Women's National Basketball League.Meanwhile, Boomers coach Cheryl Chambers has been voted Coach of the Month.
Bishop, Canberra's reigning Most Valuable Player, was the dominant force for the ladder-leading Capitals in their 4-0 run in January.
Canberra defeated cross-town rivals the Australian Institute of Sport twice in January and Bishop top-scored in both. She posted a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double and also grabbed six steals and three blocks in the first match up and lead all scorers with 27 points, and was just one rebound shy of the double with nine boards in Round 16.
Bishop was crowned the Nivea Player of the Week in Round 15 after posting another double-double against defending champions Adelaide with 23 points and an equal game-high 10 rebounds and she put up team-high numbers against the Logan Thunder with 15 points and eight rebounds.
