Anstey Wins DPOY; Tragardh Wins MIP
Anstey has won the defensive player of the year award;
Melbourne Tigers star Chris Anstey has added to his already bulging trophy cabinet after being named the Best Defensive Player for the 2007/08 HUMMER Championship National Basketball League season.
Anstey, who also recently picked up the Andrew Gaze Trophy as the NBL's Most Valuable Player and a HUMMER H3 car valued at over $60,000, took out the award with 47 votes, finishing ahead of Aaron Grabau of Cairns (35 votes) in second place.
Anstey's opposing captain in the current NBL Grand Final series, Jason Smith of the Sydney Kings, finished in third place with 32 votes. Brisbane's Dillon Boucher came fourth (22) and Townsville's Galen Young fifth (14).
And Tragardh has won the most improved award;
Tragardh was a clear winner of the award, garnering 81 votes to finish a full 40 clear of nearest rival, Darren Ng of Adelaide (41). New Zealand's Mika Vukona polled third with 22 votes. Melbourne's David Barlow (17) came fourth and Perth's Brad Robbins (15) finished in fifth place.
