Premier League Round 10

Quick Power Rankings before we get into the games this week.

1. Norwood
2. Mt Gambier
3. Forestville
4. Southern
5. Centrals
6. North
7. Woodville
8. South
9. Eastern
10. West

11. Sturt

Saturday
Norwood vs Sturt
It was ugly in round 1 but could be uglier again this time. While Sturt have proven to be sometimes competitive, Norwood have gotten significantly better with Moultrie putting up efficient numbers already. Expect a clinical Performance.

Norwood by 27.

Centrals vs North
Smokey for game of the round. Two teams battling for a spot in the 5. Centrals currently exceeding expectations and North well below them. The Lions are one team who can match Norths athletic ability up front, and Riewer has been shooting the lights out.

Lions by 3.

Woodville vs West
Warriors took out this matchup only a couple of weeks ago and West seem to have forgotten how to win. Would generally think West have too much but with Clippinger in form after having his way vs Pioneers you'd have to think Woodville are favourites.

Warriors by 4.

South vs Forestville
The Panthers come in with a two game win streak which will have their confidence sky high. Young gun Jarryd Hoppo proving his worth over the past fortnight and providing stud import Allmon some support. With all of this said though, Forestville will have too much for the young Panther side.

Eagles by 21.

Southern vs Mount Gambier
A few players missing for the Pioneers on Sunday throws some questions up about this one. Assuming Sam Daly and Burdon both play, you'd have to fancy the Pioneers after they secured two impressive wins last week. Tigers were disappointing when challenged by an in form Flames side.

Pioneers by 7.

Sunday
North vs Woodville
Big double for both sides. If either goes 0-2 it'll be tough to make finals. Call me crazy but I think Woodvilles strengths just might expose Norths weaknesses and a mini upset is on the cards.

Warriors by 5.

Eastern vs Mount Gambier
Seems like the Mavs bubble has burst after a few consecutive good weeks. Mount Gambier won't be effected by the double header and will have too much experience in this one.

Pioneers by 15.

Norwood will comfortably keep Sturt winless.
North will beat Centrals.
West will get the Warriors.
Eagles to bring South back to reality.
Gambier to handle Southern again.

North will go 2-0 this weekend and leave the Warriors 0-2 for the double header.
Gambier should handle a fresh Eastern backing up on Sunday and have a 2-0 weekend themselves.

Whitmore outcoached.

In what world would you have Meldrum (point guard) guarding Jefferson (power forward) in the post????

He scored on Riley in the post once maybe twice , by the time they tried Riley on him he had over 20

West played well , Blake the difference , Kubank 2 big 3s in the 4th

Rockets lit up Centrals zone and held them to under 80. They looked more cohesive tonight. Hope they keep it up.
Dau was tough though, took it at Starling, Dowdell and McVeigh.

West V Woodviille was a cracker. Front courts of Jefferson and Truslove vs Maoriana and Perry went at it all night. Jefferson has elite body control. Meldrum played well but wasn't enough. Thomas and Kubank proving their worth by assasinating Woodville in the 4th.

Just looking at the box score Southern men out scored Mount Gambier 38-12 in the last. Anyone see what happened?

Looks as though both teams were missing players too.

How can the cheque books be out to replace Drmic. BSA debt was paid with a interest free loan of $30K by a cashed up 'parent' to stop the club being shut down. They still have debts and already burdoned families with $66 fundraising levy and threatened players they couldn’t play if they didn’t pay it, then raised fees dramatically and juniors have to commit to sell chocolates and do BBQs to fundraise and there is probably more to come. Denied premier league was the issue and said it was parents not paying that is the problem. If they pay for another player it won’t go down well for sure.

Bagging out Australian players who have a proven track record in SEABL in a team down a player against a team with a recent starter in the NBL, players from his former club and a highly respected import in a familiar championship team in a comp they also are familiar with while Toms team is settling in and been showing great signs for a regional team at a home game for the Championship team. Hardly think thats choking. You clearly have a beef with him from the past. Stick to the present. 36 points vs 9 in 3's. Thats the difference. Nothing more and definitely not on Toms head. Its a tram game and he has won plenty of awards and Championships in SEABL. Let go of that one game years ago where mistakes were made and reflect on whats happened since and the same for all the other players and teams you support because every chance they too have made mistakes, and moved on to do well and people have let their mistakes go.

Well done Mavs
Same story different day in the men but not at all surprising very predictable and easy to coach against
And mg didn't have 2 of their best players
Vozzo cameo in last 1/4 but no time before that
Bench players not much time at all - why - are they not going to training? Attitude? Coach favouritism toward some starters who are just poor ?
Why do Mavs keep rewarding the same people when they are so poor? 4 years now

However I did enjoy watching the women a lot of juniors that have kept going and Carmen is fantastic along with ratcliffe

Too many coaches on the women’s bench tho

Apart from Thomas and Kubank, Wests locals have been terrible. And this was Kubanks 1st win after losing 6 in a row I believe. When Truslove and Spud are required to play major minutes then they're in trouble. Watching defenders literally back off into the key daring Spud to shoot is embarrassing. I think everyone overrated them this year because of last couple of seasons, other young guys haven't stepped up and there's definitely nothing coming through in their junior program. Fabian Johnson has shown flashes but has failed to live up to expectations, is he looking at going to college in future?
Unless this new import comes in and they go on a big run I think they're done. Are they getting another big or a guard?

Mt gambier resurrected their weekend... Mavs got whitewashed again! Morris good performance no supporting cast. Vozzo played 2 mins for the first 3 qtrs but had a quick 10 points in the 4th, not sure why he's not a premier player for them, he's evidently their best player after Morris. Seems like a Mavs juniors type deal.

I think its best for both parties being Eastern Mavs and the Vozzo family that Seb look at another club. Hang on didn't he do that with not one taker!
Vozzo is one of the last remaining members of a bad bunch of players "none being Mavs juniors" that created a shit load of crap in the men's program. Warhurst has slowly given these guys their marching orders and Vozzo should take the hint and follow suit. I'm sure he will find a club in the church league.

Truslove has had 3 double doubles since West got rid of import. Obviously you're not watching games just taking a long awaited chance to put the boots into a club legend. 20p 12r on the weekend and was probably the difference between the two teams!

Couldn't agree more #743207. Vozzo just trying to pump up his own numbers for another club or hoping Mavs will get a new coach. JW is trying to align the juniors with the seniors, something that he probably should have done three seasons ago. I genuinely hope Mavs see what he is trying to do and give him another year in the seat.

Imports are good and there is a solid base of Mavericks players wanting to play for the club.

Truslove has been alright for West. Still putting up numbers when given the chance. Doesn't have the same springs as years gone by but patrols the paint pretty well. West don't have any other front court options unless they sign an import (?). Spud is Spud, he gives good backup mins, knows his role and runs the show. Can't ask for much more.

West v Woodville game was a pretty good game to watch. I would agree that McLean outcoached Whitemore but only for the fact he finally gave Rennie a go. Spudavechia has been playing last quarter minutes in all losing games, which confused many at the club on what he was doing.

Watched the last few minutes of the West/Woodville game. Baffling what Whitmore is up to. At the line with 2 minutes to go to get lead back to 2 and Woodville miss one. Finally with 47 seconds to go and the game now out of reach does Whitmore ask for a timeout after another 2 foulshots. Miss and theres no other break in play. So he ends up with a timeout left and a game they could have snuck if they had a better gameplan for last few minutes, offence looked terrible.

If you bag vozzo you're a flop he scored 10 in the last he could easy put up numbers clubs could dream of if given a chance. I don’t know why he’s so underrated any team just has to give him the minutes he deserves and he’ll be really strong. Much better than that pesky Jordy Wilson and co. #bringbackhugh

I saw Whitmore put his team into a triangle and two defence after halftime against North after the Rockets were up 30. May not see that much but it did confuse North who only went on to win by 27. Don't think many of the Rocket players even knew what a triangle and two was. North did smash Woodville though, game over at halftime.

Other than that great work but maybe have a running sheet of players etc.

Sturt are welcome to take him back! He actively bagged the hell out of Warhurst to teammates and players at other clubs and would not play PL under him last season. Warhurst allowed him to play in the YL "Circus league" where he just went about putting up huge numbers in order to leave Mavs whilst his team lost every game and players didn't want to play with him. He is a point guard that doesn't know what a pass is.

People or his relatives need to get off this forum with the absolute crap they post about him good or bad. Mavericks and Warhurst were far too kind in allowing him back and he should be grateful that he has got a team at all. The best advice would be find a new home and new coach to play for and stop putting shit on here all the time as its getting a tad old and certainly not funny.

This is probably just a toxic mavs parent jealous and thinking about their kid because the whole club is collapsing from the inside.
