IMO with Harrower and Screen selected, we were always not going to get much offensive scoring or creative input in that department (other than Richards). O'Hea has been impressive and Richards has stepped up when on court.
France,USA etc, have guards that play a bit more like blokes (i.e. at least can create their own shot, drive left or right and do actually have a jumpshot ).
I wish that Camino and Foley had the form to make the team as they have some real "bloke" skills and were largely responsible for the last Lightning Title.
Screen only averaged 5.9 points a game last season(FT's?) and Harrower , although having a good career for such a short guard, has been slowing down, scoring less and struggling to defend in the last 2 seasons.
We have 3 of the best bigs in the tournament, but opposition guards have really hurt us so far. With the team as selected, Richards who killed the Lightning guards in the WNBL finals, should be our starting guard.
I think Madgen could have had a similar impact in the team to O'Hea as I see them as similar players, both score and take the game on, get rebounds, good defenders on talls and smalls, attack the ball, play as hard as anyone and are mentally tough.
We can only now cross fingers that Graf coaches better and somehow our talls and Richards/O'Hea get us through.
