Walker,Posey Deactivated Over Conditioning Issue

With Wade & Shaq out, Riley must be nuts to leave these 2 out as well...lol

MIAMI, Jan. 3 (AP) -- Heat forwards Antoine Walker and James Posey were deactivated for the team's game Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers because they didn't meet a team conditioning goal.

Heat coach Pat Riley, who also announced Wednesday that he was taking a medical leave of absence, said Walker and Posey may be back as soon as Friday in Phoenix - but could face suspension by Jan. 15 if the undisclosed goal is not met.

"There's been an ongoing conditioning goal that our team has had to make since the summer. ... January was the deadline, they haven't made it, and they knew this was going to happen if they didn't make it,' Riley said. "By the way, both of them are in the best condition of their lives. They're very close. But a deadline is a deadline.'

Neither Walker nor Posey were available Wednesday afternoon. The team did not hold its customary game-day shootaround practice, and it was unclear when the players were told they wouldn't play against the Clippers.

With center Shaquille O'Neal (knee surgery), forward Wayne Simien (recovering from salmonella poisoning) and guard Dwyane Wade (sprained wrist) all expected to miss Wednesday's game with injuries, the absence of Walker and Posey means the Heat will dress only 10 players against the Clippers.

Posey is averaging 7.3 points and 4.6 rebounds this season, while Walker is averaging 7.9 points and 4.1 rebounds on 40 percent shooting

What gets me is Riley claims they are both in the best condition of their lives......lol

I cant see suspension for them...not with the likes of Shaq and Wade on the sidelines

They lost by 15 to the Clippers of OLD today

Many injuries, Riley sick (or just wants out??), and now this conditioning thing. Man the heat are crashing and burning. I said ages ago that Wade shouldn't resign with the heat, too many aging role players, no future talent to build with.

Eh, what can he do I suppose, if he bolted he would look like a traitor. I don't think Shaq will be in any condition to play when he comes back and Walker has chosen KFC over the NBA.

Man, they still owe shaq another THREE years of 20 million AFTER this season. That is gonna KILL their salary cap. They are like the port power of the NBA, built a team to win one championship, now have to go through that 3 to 4 years of sucking and rebuilding.

Anyone out there think Miami can be okay over the next couple of years?

Disagree on the Port Power comment - they had a great team for 3 years and should have won at least two flags, just couldn't win at the business end of the year. They won more games than any other team from 2002 -2004 including Brisbane.

But regarding Miami - they are screwed. D Wade and LeBron to the Knicks in 2009.

ELG, you've put your money down then? Phoenix are paying $5.50

Spurs still favourites at $4.50.
