Get your f**king facts correct!!!!!!

If you do not remove an incorrect fact from your site, I will sue your ass(arse) quicker than a cat can lick his ass(arse). Remove the incorrect state that Andrew Gaze dunk over Cecil Exum - he did not - he never and many have tried. The person you are confusing me with is Darren Rowe - either correct it or you will hear from my solictor. Mistaken identity - is it because we are both black. I am f**king pissed off and your site will not be operating if you do not rectify it immediately.

It's come from Cecil Exum indeed.

I have amended the original post. The video of Gaze's dunk shows Cecil Exum (#32) a little behind the play on transition - not the guy suffering the facial.

Not sure if this thread was started in Exum's capacity as an employee of Fiddes at And1.

"Another little known story regarding a player who did not get in the game was forward Cecil Exum, one of the most popular members on the team. Following his graduation, he moved to Australia to play professional basketball. Despite being from a small North Carolina town and considered shy and quiet while on the team, Exum went on to be labeled the "Michael Jordan of Australian Basketball" while he played, at times not even able to walk down the street without seeing himself on a billboard or being mobbed for autographs. Even in the land Down Under, the Tar Heels and their Championship carried a lot of weight. "People know, because I make sure that they know," Exum explains. "Being popular in the States is very different than here - Australians love everything about being American. I guess overseas players are really ambassadors of their sport and the university that they attended.""
blue heaven museum.

Cecil i think you need to read your words again about being an ambassador the Tar Heels would surely be proud of an alum putting their name to such tripe.

Also what billboard were you on exactly and for the record one autograph does not equal a mob.

Hypothetical, what do you think does more to harm someone's repuation?

a) A once off innocuous comment about being dunked on (with no responses further in the thread) hidden in a 17 month old thread with dozens of other posts that is likely to be read by no more that 5 people a year...

or

b) Titling a brand new post with "Get your f**king facts correct" and having hundreds of people think you're a complete mung bean by going so far over the top in your response to a 17 month old comment that no one even remembers or cares about.

"Being popular in the States is very different than here - Australians love everything about being American"

Might I be so bold as to suggest that the reason the world's opinion of America and her people has changed so much since this quote was taken is precisely because of the attitude of Americans like Cecil? Our infatuation with America is over Cecil, get over it.

Funniest thread ever. How mature of a man (I use the term loosely here) to threaten legal action over a misguided quote. Responding to Cecil here has a multitude of paths available to us all.

Do we simply say "Cecil? Cecil Who?".

Do we invite Cecil Exum onto the forum to beguile us with his heroic deeds on the hardwood so that we may forget his involvement in the "Gaze saga"?

My god the man is a total twat. So many ways to dehumanise and belittle him here that I cant focus on only one.

This is way out of character. Cecil is a great guy. He has helped my son Jason through out his basketball and has been coaching kids down at our local stadium for a long time (more than 10 years) and is one of the few NBL players that loves to work with grass roots basketball.

He was in fact drafted by the Denver nuggets but tore his ACL. Played a bit in Europe before coming to OZ.

I have watched his 2 sons grow up and Jamar and Dante will go a long way in basketball so dont be supprised to see some more of the Exums.

What's weird here is that, IF he was the man who got posterised and he tries to say it wasn't him to get away from the small humiliation then wouldn't it be worse by making it public?

If it wasn't you, then why did you humiliate your self with a foolish post that could have been something like this...

"Unfortunately, i wasn't the man who was dunked on. I would have liked to be on a poster"

or

"I wish i was there. I would have had the best view in the stadium!"

A little bit of light humour would have surficed.

We know that it wasn't Cecil because he is #32 - which you can see in the video, however you are right in that his post has probably caused more humiliation than a more tactfull approach, or a simple email to the moderator's to adjust the incorrect post.

Look,

Maybe the guy was more pissed off with what he interpreted to be racial connotation of the post. The fact an African American player gets dunked so the assumption is that it is Cecil is actually quite a valid point to get extremely annoyed over. If ever you guys have played with these guys they love the game more than what we can imagine, they have a lot of pride about it and this kind of thing would annoy the shit out of them.

As the poster above pointed out the guy is coaching and is a family man. I reckon we should just leave it there.

THINKABOUTURSHIT-

Look,

For you to come on here and post accusations of racial stereotyping by exclaiming "if you have ever played with these guys before they love the game more than what we can imagine..." smacks of both ignorance and hypocrisy on your behalf. I assume by "these guys" you mean African Americans and by "we" you mean white people. It was a simple mistake by the original poster and another mistake by Cecil, nothing more. Injecting race into the issue only fans the flames (but just between you and me, I've never found pride to be race specific).

Ummm - just came across this thread. I've been under a huge pile of rocks, obviously.

Seems Cecil is slightly annoyed. My apologies. But Cecil, come on! The race card! I can't believe you had the nerve to pull that one! Check the clip - it's fairly poor quality and the guy that Gaze dunked on had a bad flat top too. Obviously a case of mistaken identity.

Not sure what your solicitors would be doing if you contacted them. I believe a defamation suit requires loss or damage to be suffered as a result of incorrect information being published that damages reputation. Cecil, you played for the Supercats - your rep was shot the day you walked on court.

What you should really be doing is instructing your solicitor to sue the pants off whoever printed that garbage that you were "the Michael Jordan of Australian Basketball"

Once again, my bad. But to play the race card is ridiculous.

So who was the player Gaze dunked on in the youtube clip?

Was it Vince Hinchen? I think he sported a flat top and played at Geelong with C.E (and was in the league long enough to expect Gaze to lay it up).

Other than that I can only guess it being either Adrian Branch or Darren Rowe (but the defender looks to short to be either of those players).
