most obscure player to score 50

Afternoon all... Was just having a discussion at work and this question came up. Who is the most obscure player or unexpected player to score 50 points in a single game. NBA or NBL...

Tony Delk anyone?

Terry Cummings isn't a surprise, he scored nearly 20,000 career points, averaging over 20PPG in 7 seasons.

Vernon Maxwell - Houston Rockets

59pts vs Phoenix in Game 3 of Western Conference Finals or Semi-Finals in 1993-94

I think it was 15 or 16 three's.

Rockets came back from losing first 2 at home to win in 7 and then go on to beat New York for the title.

Tom Chambers and Terry Cummings are not obscure by any stretch of the imagination... Two of the upper-echelon PFs of the mid to late-80's... And Chambers has one of the greatest dunks of all time on his resume - the teabagging of Mark Jackson...

Journo,

That never happened . . .

Mad Max's career high is 51pts, in a regular season game vs Cleveland.

The record for most 3's in a game is 12 by Kobe. So, your 15 or 16 3's by Vernon Maxwell never happened either.

However, Houston did overcome a 0-2 deficit to beat them in 7 games.

PS My vote would go to Willie Burton

PPS Tom Chambers is the man

Fezlington, Terry Cumming was a 20 plus scorer his first 8 season in the NBA and played 19 season with an average over 16ppg. Son they are looking for obscure players, not player you donĀ“t know.

Robinsons 71 to claim the scoring title was just a way of showing what damage he really could do when not being so unselfish his whole career the rest of the team just pumped the ball into him all night.
