Besides imports and development players have the sixers cut any players in the Smyth era? I cant think of any. This may not be a bad thing as it could just mean good recruitment.
Paul Maley got cut with a year to go on his contract.

I dont know about Maley, but none of the others ever got axed, they simply didnt get their contracts renewed when they ended AFAIK. Big difference at the end of the day.
I recall Smyth saying a few seasons back that the 6ers had a "no cut" philosophy, I assume that still stands.
That "no cut" philosophy turned out to be a pile of shit when Maley was cut.
You are right about Bauer, Sapwell and Rees though. Their contracts just didn't get renewed as will happen with half of this years team.

Nino, I've been told by a very reliable source that Maley was told by the coaching crew he was a required player and they were looking forward to him playing in the new season.
When cut he was informed that it was the coaches decision. He was no longer a required player.
It was where I first heard the 'fairy tale' Phil tag.

In many ways, Smyth is a "player's coach" and perhaps one of his faults is that he is not ruthless enough and favours some players too long? e.g., Jason Williams, Mark Nash, etc.
