He has probably done more in his life than you guys ever will.

First of all, it's my opinion and I am entitled to it...don't take it personally.

Secondly I had no intentions of "making it" in basketball because Aussie Rules Football was my sport and I won three premierships playing it.

I think the point is that "making it" means different things to different people. Many people would consider having made it to the NBL and played at such a high level as having "made it". Maybe ask Jason what he thinks, he is very approachable and a nice guy. And no, I am not his mother, brother, or secret lover!

And to say he didn't make it might not be the truth also. In my opinion, playing valuable minutes in a championship team (and playing in another championship) is pretty close to making it. Jason, I'll never forget you defensive hustle efforts in that second championship.

Jason Williams made the most of his abilty , won a few NBL championships and in the process partayed his ass off , he is a good lad who has given alot to the game and i think he is realistic in his approach to life .
Who gives rats if he is now delivering piccadilly's finest around the city .
Instead of people laughing and taking the piss , they should be happy for him to be humble enough in working an unglamorous job to progress in life .
Good on ya j

Why he became the poster-child for underachievers in NBL/SA basketball, I don't know - certainly cops far more than he deserves. He did OK, lasted longer than others. Might not have been a role model for younger players after the games, but was a well-rounded and passionate ABL player (critics might not agree, but one of the prototypical ABL players along with guys like Dix and Reggie IMO). I think he's a good guy and hopefully his firefighting path pans out OK.

One of the funniest posts I've read on here was a shot a Jason.

One where some anonymous poster said he sold Brett Maher a water so can he claim a championship and someone replied "Is that you Jason Williams?".

I believe Isaac, you found it quite amusing!

First Krause, then Dougie, if Jason gets in the firies then the SA fire basketball team would be looking pretty good for next years world police and fire games!

This is what my cat has to say about the great man J Will...

bn hmn gvfbNZB M<

with a prrrrr at the same time!!

What I think - J Will played for the sixers - in championship winning teams. Exactly Isaac - not the best role model - but a player all the same!! Some of his best work was on defense, during his strongest years.

I think what everyone in basketball thinks - is if he treated his body like a professional and concentrated more on his basketball skills and career more than what he apparently did in the end - he still might of only lasted as long as he did - but instead of being a 7-10th man - he would of been a starter - and if not at the sixers - other clubs would have shown interest.

MW,

Could you shed some light on your 3 AFL Championships, I'm assuming you played for The Brisbane Lions during their triple or possibly played with Port Adelaide and picked up 3 in the SANFL?

I can't think of any other football league's other than those two(SANFL & AFL) that are prestigious or noteworthy.

If you HAVEN"T played in either league MW than you are a scrubber who couldn't 'make it' in 'real mens football'.

MW if you believe playing in an Amateur competition or country football league is comparable to playing AND winning a national title you are sorely mistaken.

I have no doubt that monthly you need to purchase an industrial size tub of vaseline to polish your trophy.

95424, that is brilliant!

Seriously I know its all good to have a bit of fun and fair enough. But the posters having the jokes here need to get some freakin perspective.

The guy carved at ABL level, was very successful and played some big minutes for 6ers in his prime. Add to that he was a player on 2 nbl winning sides. He played minutes. Seriously get some perspective. It fu*hing amazing how ppl make jokes out of such a champion.

3 NBL titles, 2 ABL titles, countless junior titles as a player and a coach, even coached a National Junior Classics winning side. Not too many better results than that. Jason played on winning teams because he was a winner, as opposed to some of the losers posting here!

without bagging anyone...

I am curious as to how working for picadilly is going to get you a truck licence 95353?

why not just pass a truck drivers test and jump straight to the fire fighters if that's what he wants?

No I am not bagging the guy, or bagging his job. Just seems a strange connection. Yes I have a truck licence, and no I never had to work for picadilly to get it, sorry but I don't see the connection.

Driving a Picadilly light watertruck is so far away from driving a 30+ tonne firetruck.

It's almost like someone practising in a Mazda 121 before jumping behind the wheel of Isaacs Ferrari.

I guess a Picadilly truck requires a MR licence which is the minimum requirement to apply to the SAMFS. Why not use someone else's money to get the licence, beats digging into your own pocket.

MW,

How about YOU kick the "revealing" of names away by starting with yours. It doesnt mean squat that you have always posted under the same name - all we know is it's the same gutless anonymous nobody who has a crack at people and then cant take it when others have a go back.

We arent any closer to knowing WHO you are - you arent any "braver" by using the same initials each post.

If your going to say things like:

"J-Will...lol now there was a dud of a sixer"

And than follow it up with:

"..don't take it personally."

How do you think people who are fans, past teammates or friends of Jason's (or Jason himself) expect to take it? Dont mess with the bull and not expect to "get the horns".

So by all means let us know your name so we can marvel at your courage and bask in the glory of your three premierships.
