Just a question, but how do the US still be ranked number 1 in mens basketball...
Haven't they finished 3rd or lower in the last three tournaments???

No way that this is based on just mens basketball , it may take on things like development programs etc.

Nigeria just lost to Germany on the buzzer, Germany 9 Nigeria 22.

Canada 15, what would they achieve with Nash in the team?

and the best of all FIBA refer to Serbia and Montenegro as seperate countires now yet they are listed here as one.

FIBA rankings take into account all programs, juniors, seniors, men and women.

Australia is lucky that our women continue to perform very very well on the world circuit.

The US keep their No 1 due to all US teams contributing to the ranking. Spain and Argentina don't have the same results that the US or Australians have in the womens program.

Um TR I think you'll find this is the MEN's rankings. Hence the title Latest FIBA Rankings (Men).

But I believe it takes into account juniours which helps keep Australia aloft.

What teams below Australia should be above us. Turkey, any others?

This is only MEN'S rankings. There are obviously seperate rankings for women, and a combined ranking is available as well.

Onoverall performance of their senior and junior teams in tournaments over the last 4 years. Including their U23 Men who won junior worlds in Argentina this year.
