Winning at all costs in junior ranks..

Came across this story while hard at work..

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2549340

WHat are everyone's thoughts as to the moral arguments involved?

Unfortunate.

But is it much different from a district coach isolating a player for a mis-match? If players switch on a screen and end up with a guard playing a centre, surely a coach would be proud if their players recognised this, centre posted up and scored on the guard?

Or in volleyball spiking towards weakest receiver?

Or tennis player always hitting to backhand of opponent?

Personally, I don't think this was win at all costs, it was strategy from the coach.

Sport is about participation, but sport still has a winner and a non-winner (didn't want to say loser!)

there is a clear line in basketball though, especially in younger grades.

you can see the difference in years down the track with players who were taught by good coaches when they were young.

Coaches get teams to trap or zone consistently at a young age to try and win matches. it might produce a win at that time but down the track, players suffer due to not being able to play man on man defence as well as their opposition.
