Bear Basketball - Individual Training Program

Bear Basketball is starting up its Individual Training Program commencing the 26th of August, 2006.

This program is designed to work on individual skills and development that can sometimes be hard to achieve in team training situations.

We have specialist coaches for both post players and perimeter players and not only work on offensive skills but also defensive skills, physical endurance and strength.

We tailor our program to individuals needs, and cater for both boys and girls from under 12s through to under 20s. (Maximum of 3 athletes per basket, only 18 spots available per hour)

When: Every Saturday of school term commencing August 26th, 2006
Time: Sessions are an hour long and start at 12:30pm and are every hour after that until 5:30pm
(you will be allocated a time slot when you book in, these times can be negotiated)

Where: Immanuel College, 32 Morphett Road, Novar Gardens
Cost: It is a $50 registration per term, and $20 per week that you attend there after. (if you have to miss a week, no charge is made)

Looks like a worthwhile program. I would imagine kids that do sasi wouldnt be interested in this. as for a north recruitment i have heard of a couple of other clubs seeking the Bears services next year, so i think people shouldnt be narrow minded and see that he and Belly try and provide opportunities. I like the idea.

be thankful your kids dont play tennis, the cheapest individual coaching we could find was $60 an hour.

Pacey,

Great idea like the 36ers and Lighting "zone". Just not necessary.

do you have to enter it as a team or can you join up by yourself because im sure there are lots of teams out there that have parents to find this way too expensive.

anon 91413 why would it not be necessary? the more oportunities our kids have to get better the stronger our basketball clubs will be. if this is done properly i think it is worthwhile

Tennis is an individual sport. The most people you could have at a proper training session is probably 4. This would be $240 per hour at $60 per hour per kid.

Basketball is a team sport. As said above there is 3 per basket, 18 max per hour. This is $360 per hour at Bears rates - not including the "registration fee".

Before you jump down my throat on the paying for coaches thing. It has been stated that it is 3 players per basket not per coach.

With those kinds of maths I know which business I would rather be in!

91455...why go into all of that? Bear Basketball are a service - they have to charge something to make some profit and the charges I believe are realistic! If you look at it this way its $70 for 1 hour sesion ($50 rego and $20 for 1 lession), $90 for 2, $110 for 3, $140 for 4, $160 for 5, $180 for 6 and $200 for 7 so on and so on - the more you attend the cheaper it gets!

Anyway, the cost of valuable coaching, individual one-on-one attention and more practice is priceless! If the kid has got skills, wants to actually develop - then $20 for 1 hour is good value! You spend that going to the movies once you pig out on popcorn and coke! What Bear is providing is a far healthier and beneficial alternative...

good luck to the boys! :-)

Maths has no equation for "Maria Sharapova" or "short white skirt". I wouldn't recommend making all of life's decisions with maths. :P

God some of you are so negative I hope it doesn't pass down to your kids, family or friends.

Whatever you are earning in your "employee" job, roughly times that by 3 and that is YOUR cost to your employer! Not just your hourly rate less tax that you see on the regular pay slip. Go out in the real world and be self employed with no sick leave, no holiday pay, no leave loading, no company paid super and see what you would charge! In my past training vocation it was $100/hour and there were plenty of happy and appreciative clients.

Anyways why the hell bother posting if you are not interested or using the service? Those that want to, will use the service, otherwise......

For more information or to register please email Justin.

Good luck JS, Sure you will be successful!!! Power to the self employed entrepeneur making this country great and creating jobs for other people!!

91455, your maths is wrong. It looks to me like they are saying $20 per hour + $50 rego.

Why people take their time to attack good ideas like this is beyond me!

Its pretty simple really. Let people do their own maths, let them decide if they want to do it or not.

Hell, I pay $45 for 30 mins work with a personal trainer!

I wasnt attacking, being negative or bagging them in any way. I was actually defending them from the other people who were having a go at the cost.

I appreciate that they are a business who needs to charge to provide a service. And the cost of any service is always determined by demand and what people will pay.

I spoke to Justin last night about this program at reserves. My son has the same issue and he said that if demand is high there will also be a session during the week starting up. He said numbers are good already and felt this could be a definate posibility in the future. If your at SASI you could prob talk to him though

I have no problems with what Bear Basketball is trying to do, good on them.
Whoever runs the show should have a good think about the ethecs of its employees. You cannot cross the lines between offering training sessions for all, and recruiting for 1 club, it will come unstuck

Some of the responses on this forum are pathetic! A person is offering a service. Because he has to eat & pay his bills, he charges a fee for that service. If you believe the fee is too high, either negotiate a better rate or decline the offer!!!! To bag someone under the title of anon. is spineless.
