36ers remaining spots.

So the team is back from Port Lincoln now obviously.

Anyone know when the remaining spots are to be announced?

looks like its down to Sutton, Zorich and Hambour for the 2 spots after reading todays article. good fit either way i think, but to me it would be smarted to take one gaurd and one big to cover both areas

There was something in the paper today I think suggesting that they really liked Gerlach but the state of his knees may prevent him from getting an offer. Considering that, I think Sutton/Hambour will take 11 and 12, and then Boti has suggested that Marcus Ng and Jordan Dodman will be the development spots.

Zorich vs Sutton might come down to them wanting someone who can stick the three, which will work against Zorich (21% 3P, 49% FT).

Hambour has his detractors on this site (as did Gower), but he never did all that badly in his few minutes on court and behind Cooper, Wheeler, Horvath, Majstrovich, Nash, Hill and Copeland might not see a single minute anyway?

Dont bet on it, if i was Phil with this fine group id keep them all around to use for training. Gives more youth an oportunity and allows a better back up when the old fellas break down

I thought that the 11th and 12th spots were the develpoment spots? But yes, I would think that Hambour would be a definate inclusion, then out of Sutton abd Zorich for the other. Not sure who they will go for. I think that Phil would like Suttons body shape more. A taller guard, with more of a reach and more able to guard some of the more taller guards in the league. His point guard skills slightly more advanced as well in terms of getting his team organized. Also is a much better shooter. But, Zorich is probably in better form at the moment, is quicker and therefore a better penetrator, and slightly better at getting his team mates open. However, his inability to shoot with any sort of consistancy, takes his quickness advantage away a bit, cos the fact that he can't shoot, means that the defender can give him a step off, which makes it alot easier to pull him up. I think Zorich gets in the lane far too often due to his defenders not thinking about his strengths enough, and play to close to him which plays right into his hands! Phil and Steve would surely have picked this up by now, so I think Sutton for me.

Having said all that, either would be well deserved, and I think that Dodman, should certainly be used for training bait it order to further his develoment, at least for the first half of the season, before the team starts getting themselves ready for finals and concentrating on the now.

Is there any truth to the rumour from a while back about Gower being linked with the Dragons?

I think, for some reason, that they might be running with 12 instead of 10 (maybe all under the cap?) and that means the development spots are 13 and 14. Besides giving depth as preparation for injury, I'm not sure why they'd do that. Not sure, but I did hear that somewhere.

I heard Hambour linked to the Dragons, but not Gower - wouldn't have been anything recently as Gower is barely even playing at 50% ability due to injury.

I would think Slambour would be a definite inclusion - in the limited minutes he had last season he seemed to produce some good things. Maybe more minutes we could see some more of what he is capable of?

I would tend to agree with you Isaac on the fact that if it came down to Sutton or Zorich, Smyth would lean towards Sutton purely because he is a better 3 shooter than Zorich - with Sutton shooting the 3 @ about 36% compared to Zorichs' 22%

91273 - you obviously haven't seen marcus play reserves! Who ever said white men cant jump obviously haven't seen marcus play.

And the reason for not getting minutes in ABA is 1/ he is still only 19 or 20 so he is still considered a rookie and 2/ he is studying medicine so he has to put a lot of time into that so sometimes misses out on trainings and / or reserves games

over the next couple of seasons, his minutes for ABA will def increase!

Marcus Ng is not at all ready for that type of spot, I cannot see it, you need something to work with in order to be a development player, personally i think you would be better of going with someone else.

So if Marcus is studying medicine are we likely to see him exit when his study becomes too much ala Darren ?
Seems a bit silly to me.
Jobs for the boys IMO.

Give the development spot to another prospect who will be more likely to stick around.

From Watching Hambour play against the flames in the elimination final there is no possible way for him to get into the sixers roster. The guys first shoit hit the bottom of the backboard but to the right a little. He played pathetic and then let his temper get the best of him by taking out speedy guard todd matthews. Surely a guy who plays like that cannot get in the sixers roster. I say pick sutton and zorich.
Ps zorich didnt play that well either but he's better than Hambour

He was in the ten last season. Kinda goes against what you're saying, eh?

Hambour has to get in. All it takes is an ageing Wheeler to be consistantly injured all year, and an injury prone Nash to again have an injury interrupted year and all of a sudden, Hambour will be needed to pitch in with 5 minutes here and there.

Judging by recent history, Hambour or whoever else in that position still would not get 5 minutes here and there.

If Hambour gets more than 5 minutes in any game this year (where the game is still in the balance), then I'm not gonna watch the 6ers games from then on. That stupid T-shirt he wears under his singlet just really shits me, and so does his attitude.

I can't remember the details, but I think there is a reason that he wears that undershirt. A burn, scar, something like that - or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

I always determine which team I will support based on whether they wear shirts under their singlets or not...
