Changes to structure of SA bball

Whilst avoiding study lke the plauge, I was chatting to 'Jirachi' on MSN, and thought some of you might like to discuss these ideas:

- get rid of Senior div5 and send them back to their local stadiums
- alternatively, limit district teams to abl, div2+3 and let the other divs be run in an 'amateur' fashion, much like the Amatuer footy and soccer, involving local based clubs and the ilk.
- THIS IS A MUST - to allow for the development of juniors - make Reserves into U23 like SA soccer - meaning that in all Reserves games only players under 23 and 3 (or 2?) overage players can play.

Of course, we know no-one will ever have the balls to make any signifcant administration changes...

also, add the proposal of 'Concerned' to teh list. I remember when I was 8 and just statred playing at St Bernards the massive amounts of juniors we had back then, like 20 teams in u10s and u12s. If Norwood or North had controlled all of that, the majority of the good kids would've played district ball, rather than some try out and others drift away.

Agree to some extent. The prolem is that clubs can't provide for more than they alrady have. Your idea's look to be some what european in their thinking regarding the U/23 comp, maybe it could replace the current U/20 Friday night comp and become the prime Friday night comp. If the clubs were involoved in their own local stadium and making something out of entering teams, they would be more likely to be able to employ somebody to do the necessary work that goes along with entering and administrating teams. Then the clubs would fill the stadium and BASA wouldn't need to worry about paying people to administer it.

i know this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know why the hell BASA is making all girls play with a SIZE 6 basketball from the new season onwards?? i cant seem to find a very good reason, so can sum1 help me out? tnx
