CJ Bruton to sign with Brisbane?

Not official yet but in Queenslands Sunday Mail this morning it is reported that should he not secure a contract in the NBA he has agreed to sign with the Bullets. Nice replacement for Rucker I would say and one heck of a starting 5.

Bradke
Rychart
MacKinnon
Black
Bruton

Surely the Kings are not going to be at all pleased with this! Didn't CJ get out of his Kings 3-year deal to pursue overseas interests, and now he's looking at moving to a big competitor?

Hmmm, salary cap...

Wouldn't he remain contracted to Sydney if the out clause only related to overseas deals?

Why does the NBL let teams like Brisbane get away with clearly rorting the salary cap.

There are too many easy options around ANY salary caps, that's kind of why they have introduced the points system. All leagues know they cant FULLY enforce a cap as there are always under the table deals going on.

Based on the points list released by the NBL, has anyone calculated how Brisbane fares by adding Bruton?

Haha Thomo, good to hear, at work you say hmm any jobs going there? :-)

There are some rumours about a update for the upcoming season with the addition of Singapore, more work to be done on the Dragons and obviously roster changes. Here's hoping.

And hopefully they dont mess around too much with NBA Live 07 and it can be ported across without to much difficulty.

You would guess that if they sign CJ they wouldn't and couldn't sign a second import.

Rychart 10, Bradtke 7, Black 9, Bruton 10, Mackinnon 10, Boucher 5, Williamson 4, Hill 5, Gibson 1.

9 players = 61.

They could still fit in an import if it were Tate Decker, or get someone like Cullen. If the limit is 69 points (can't remember if it's 68 or 69), they could get Rolan Roberts or Brian Green.

Is Cullen an Import?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but does anyone have any idea what the sixers point tally is up to? and how much room do we have left? Isaac perhaps?

DB5, it doesn't really matter as we have enough for an import anyway, and only one spot left to fill.

Skip, no, I was just suggesting that they have the space left to sign an impact player even if it's not an import. Didn't word it very well, sorry!

Sydney must be fuming about this and, IMO, rightfully so. They released CJ from that long-term contract to let him head abroad, and next thing you know he's talking to Brisbane and then signing to play for prime competition if his slight-chance NBA hopes fall through.

Brisbane are going to attract some bad karma this season...

Thanks Isaac, the whole scenario sort of reminds me of when we let Bradtke out of a contract, and he came back and signed with Melb....

It coudnt be worse than their last season could it? That was star studded and didnt get them very far.

A team of champions wont beat a champion team.....

or something like that.

CJ is a Brisbane Bullet. Salary cap and points are fine; Van Gronigen has done it again. This time Joey has no excuses. Team chemistry much improved over last year.

There is no way that they're legitimately under the cap. No way at all.

That was said about a few ABL teams in the last couple of years.

Last year Sturt and Forestville.
This year Norwood and Eastern.
