SPOILER - Mavs/Suns - Game 5

Mavericks are through to the NBA Championship, with a 16 point win over the Suns, 117/101.

Nowitzki 50 points (14/26 FG's, 5/6 3's, 17/18 FT's), 12 rebounds, 3 assists & a steal.

At a period in the 3rd quarter, Tim Thomas (26 points (9/14 FG's, 6/8 3's) got on a roll and the Suns got out to a 7 point lead 77/70, but were outscored 47/24 from then on. Nowitzki got 28 of the Mavs 47.

I assume that Mavs will be keen for Pistons to win game 6, so that the Heat & Pistons will go at each other very hard in Game 7 while the Mavs sit back and have a couple of days rest.

For a Mavs fan (since pre Jason Kidd days, when it was only the 2 J's, Jackson & Mashburn), this is huge

(Mod: Thread title corrected - series ain't over yet!)

Dude, it's only 3-2 Dallas. Still have to win another game.

I think Dirk proved today who the real MVP is. Nash couldnt get his team over the line. I expect Suns to bounce back but Dallas should win game 7. Dirk hits 5-6 3 pointers and 17-18 from the free throw line. Has there been a better 7-foot shooter ever? Certainly not in the NBA there isnt.

Indeed, thedoc. Whilst game 5 is important, they're not through yet!

Great way for Dirk to bounce back after his 42 game streak of 20+ point games was broken in game 4. I think he had 33 or so in the 2nd half. Amazing.

Damn yahoo.com, they updated the Game Results too quickly.

I guees as a mavs Fan I got so excited that I thought they had made the NBA Finals, that I didn't let logic rule.

Oh well, still no denying that Suns may have been able to stop Dirk once (Game 4) but they are really going to struggle now

beating dallas is easy, keep Josh Howard under 20. Now can someone please stop him, Dallas are 24-0 when he scores 20 pts.

Talk about a hometown advantage, who gets to the line 18 times in a game?

Tyler, the exact same thing could have been said after game 4 but in reverse after Dirk had a stinker and Nash lead his team to a comfortable victory.
