my take on the conference finals

In my totally unbiased opinion, i thought phoenix could win this series. Raja bell's value is really shining in this series, i read somewhere that the suns are 1-5 this year without him, and dallas will probably win tomorrow which will make it 1-6. There's no one to stop Terry, and Dallas are something like 25-0 when he scores 20+. So cheap win by Dallas and it would have been a much more exciting series if Bell was playing.

Now i'm not taking anything away from (Ben) Wallace's defense. he can't stop shaq, but he does a pretty good job, better than most. I'm having a go at his complete lack of offensive effort. When watching the game today, it was almost laughable how poor he was, getting it in the paint, not even looking at the hoop, and shaq standing off him like he's on the 3 point line. Why was Bell so effective against Kobe? He made kobe move. made him tired on the defensive end, so he wasn't as effective on the offensive end. Remember the game he didn't play and kobe dropped 50? ben wallace NEEDS to become more of an offensive threat if Detriot are going to win. shoot a couple of foul line jumpers. hey if they go in, Shaq will need to at least take a step out of the key. make shaq tired, so he's less effective on the offensive end. that means there's less bail outs for D wade, less open 3 balls for Posey and walker (because teams don't need to double down)

p.s i am in fact Bell's lovechild

one thing that seemed obvious today, was that Flip Saunders seems totally out of water in this series. In today's game, he was basically a glorified substitution machine, as he did little else. he made very few adjustments of any importance, didn't call timeouts when sorely needed, didn't make any adjustment to his flawed end-game strategy (that failed in game 3, and failed even more in game 4) and when his players don't even respect him enough to "five" him as they left the court.

ELG,

Just a small point - I think that Dallas are 22-0 when Josh Howard knocks 20+, not Jason Terry. I also believe Bell/Howard is the more likely matchup, and he's the one that's hit 51 combined in the past 2 games.

It would surprise me if Phoenix knock off Dallas, with or without Bell. Dirk is the best player left in the playoffs & has some solid role players around him, as well as a good coach.

In the East, I am surprised Miami are 3-1 up, and would hope they're able to close it out from here. I expected Detroit to kick it up a gear come ECF, but that hasn't been the case.

Bring on a Heat vs Mavs final!

Anyone who has been watching the games would say that D Wade is the best player left right now, IMO.

Maybe that shows a lack of depth for Phoenix, sure Bell is a good role player with his 3 balls and defense, but the only reason his defense is praised so much is because he's sorrounded by players like Nash, Diaw and Thomas.

No Mr Clutch Raja Bell is a perimeter defender and stopped the most potent offensive weapon in the league, Kobe Bryant. The guy has a strong constitution and a will to win that isn't in many players and he has earned my respect and admiration this season not just for the above but for his ethic.

Raja Bell is needed by the Suns as much as Nash, Diaw, Thomas, Marion et al. It allows for their defensive rotations to click into motion.

Now. If his calf muscle holds up the rest of the series, he will hold down D-Wade given the Heat win one of the remaining games ... not an easy thing to do. He did it through the season. The Suns are 2-0 against the Heat in the regular season.

I am anticipating that the Suns will win in six if they win tomorrow. They won't want to go back to Dallas with a fired up opponent and wired crowd. Otherwise I think the Suns will win in seven. It's been a very entertaining series so far.

So. Heat in 6 ... Suns in 6 if they win tomorrow, 7 if they don't and as for the finals ... if it's Heat v Suns ... Suns in 6. Something tells me if the Suns meet the Heat in the finals ... they will win because really the Heat only have D-Wade and Shaq. Shut those two down and it's game over.

Keep in mind Wade is shooting over 60% and is basically unguardable and shaq is putting up solid numbers against the pistons....boris diaw may be a great player but who on the suns could possible stop shaq? They are a team of small forwards and shutting down d-wade and diesel is a huge task.
