Port Pirie Mini Blitz - this weekend
The Mini Blitz is on!Any questions, ask away and the BDO at Port Pirie should be able to answer them.
The wait is finally over, and it's time to watch some of the best basketball in this part of the state! Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Whyalla and Broken Hill are going to be playing a round robin tournament at Donaldson Stadium on the 25th and 26th February. The prize money this year is a whopping $1000 for the winner of the Men's competition and another $1000 for the winner of the Women's competition. Our major sponsors, Brock Harcourts Real Estate, Sportsman Tavern, Hunter Financial Services and the Port Pirie Basketball Association, have kindly donated this prize money.
As an added bonus, another $200 will be offered to the MVP in the men's and the women's competition, with Mark Hanlon Sportscene and Second Skin Clothing sponsoring these awards.
The best players this side of Adelaide will be on show for all to see. Class players from Port Pirie include, Stuart Yates, Clive Munzberg, Chris Harvey and this blitz also sees the return of the big man, Adrian Habils. In the women, Jodie Munzberg and Nadine Chivell will be leading the way.
Port Augusta will be fronting up with Brett McKerlie, Ryan Struck and Jon Osbourne. The Devil women's team will be lead by the Harrison girls. Whyalla have Darren Quinn leading the Stealers men and Ebony Curwood is sure to cause some headaches for the opposition defence. The Broken Hill men will be led by a youthful side, with ex state junior, Adam Gavranich, needing to be contained or the Hill will create havoc! The women have a lot of unknowns in the senior circle, but all are accomplished ex State Country Juniors.
If you want to see some first class action full of thrills and spills, then head on over to Donaldson stadium. See you there!
