mullet 31- you dont happen to play for mavs do you?
perfect time for predictions i think.
the position of backup pg behind harry harvey is the one in question..
could it be his backup at forestville?
steve mcmahaon (spellcheck) would have a good chance as back up pg
i do not think so steve will not make it has not help at all this season nearly lost as a game a few weeks ago good on you
nah steve i wouldnt say is good enough at the moment. Chettle good but probly doesnt have the body to compete at nationals. mitch or ben howell maybe could run the 1 as back up.
can someone please tell me who the players mentioned above play for
well i think t many boys like talking about themselves steve is one

steve does not have what it takes to play in a bsa comp let alone a nationals. ben howel is looking good with sam harding and mike from southern at the 2
hmm josh krake? did pull off 50 against woodville a while ago.. but current form good enough?

Can anyone tell me who the red haired guard (number 50 something?) is for Norwood? I've seen him play a few times and thought he was awesome, yet one of my friends told me he wasn't a state player.
thats ben howell. he has improved a lot and be a good chance for state this year. he has been in sasi for 3 or so years

i just kno sum1 who made SA country who wears #31 for mavs, hes a top bloke.
heard that steve did not make top twenty from north i knew your time would come
brad goodchild is quite possibly the most dominant forward in the league. He can shoot inside and out adnw with that high how can he be stopped?
The only time i have seen him stop is agaisnt North when Josh Hubbard was gaurding him. I feel both are shoe-ins for the state team
pffffttt... mate he might have a chance if he would pass once in a while, not just get the ball and shoot or take it himself everytime. Big chief and Steve are the two best as far as big guys go.
(#75301) what are you on? first u think that brad has half a chance but josh. come on mate think. they have no chance against people like cheif, zac, steve, claybrn and matt.
R u insane Josh Hubbard is a Dill and has got no game and Brad..where do i start. He cant even blance his own head.
All you guys that bag the state team squad are a bunch or wankers put you name to it
cheif, zac, steve, claybrn and matt.
There are your big guys for state, now fill in the rest of the team

FISHY! The Lean left hand hook machine! Cleary another big guy in contention. He'd be second tallest next to Dubrich. Not that I'm biased or anything, not at all.
Yeah I would love to see the big fish make, he has really put in the hard yards the couple of years he has been at sturt. Good luck to him

If by gay you mean like Freddy Mercury, as in EXTREMELY TALENTED (and can pull off scandalously short shorts), then you can lather me up and call me Elton.
a few players are carrying injuries after this easter weekend. may be 2/3 weeks before they can or should play and state champs weekend fast approaches. wont be easy cutting the squad with those not training and some also away on holidays
I HEAR THE SQUAD IS DOWN TO 14. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHO IS LEFT
All sturt guys still there - andrew, mitch and claybran. Not sure about others
i heard what is left is a joke when will get our state teams right also heard that he cut the injured players andrew still the squad that is funny
zac, owen (norwood)
harry, james, jarred, bryce (forestville)
chief (north)
dubrich, sam harding (south)
florence, hemmings (tigers)
mitch, andrew, claybrin (sturt)

How and why would you cut those 2 norwood guys!! They are the most naturally talented kids in the group!! the have injuries which will be fine for state champs> maybe could have waited for another week with those guys!!
Would tend to agree with you 'go flames' the squad at the moment doesn't seem to have alot of natural scorers both of these boys can put the ball in hole & create shots for themselves.
well i still do not understand why you keep someone that has not trained at all
go flames
Years ago
4 forestville kids??? Those 2 norwood boys are better then 2 of them!!!
They may be better than them, but obviously from what has been said above they have not been training. And considering they have not missed games on Friday nights or at Easter, one might question their commitment to the team. Maybe this is a lesson for all players with State asperations. Don't expect to make the team if you are not going to make the commitment to train.

But from what i understand 1 hurt himself during a game at easter and hasnt played or trained since, to allow him to play at state champs. The other has trained and played. I think the person that is being talked about is a big. i think injured for a while now, didnt play easter, hasnt trained and so on but is still in!!
Both the Norwood boys who have been cut missed games at Easter. Trust me, I should know ;)
go flames,
What exactly is your point? That these kids who are trying out for competitive positions should be able to not train, so that they are fit for State Champs, but still make the State team? They didn't make it, bad luck, move on. Build a bridge and get over it.
If you have not been to all of their trainings! Do not know what it IS the coach is looking for! Have never been to a National Championship! Have never been a part of a successful Nationals group! Then you really have no idea what you are talking about. All you are managing to do is transfer all kids negative feelings into an unrealistic idea about what it is to make a State team. From somebody who has been there, the best thing these kids can do is change their behaviour to do everything asked of them by the next State Coach they have to try and be more successful.
well i hope zac he is the water boy he should not be in the team no training at all that is crap there are at least two sturt boys that should not be in the team well it does not matter the team will not do that well. I wondering want zac is doing with the coach
I think the problem is that the coaches have kept a kid in who has barely played over the last six months & yet they cut two kids(with minor injuries from what I have heard) who have been the main reason that team has pretty much dominated the comp, especially Krake.
anon #80463
From what I have heard, the two guys who wre cut have been playing on Friday nights and not training on the weekends. IMO that shows a lack of heart. And is very different from somebody who has not been playing due to an injury. If they were really injured, they would not have been playing. I guess they only hjave themselves to blame. And those Sturt boys won the Easter tournament. So they can't be too bad. And they stillmight not make the team since they still have 14 players left.

krake injured for 2nd time, in last game easter, missed 1 state training
howell injured easter 3rd game has not trained or played since. both consistent scorers all summer season and so far winter. vital cogs in top team. very very stiff to get cut

"From what I have heard, the two guys who wre cut have been playing on Friday nights and not training on the weekends."
You heard wrong.
Also if you really knew either of the boys in question you would NEVER question their heart. Krake played the last game hurt at Easter because Norwood only had about 3 fit players left.
But whatever, the decision is made, time to move on.

And it was the wrong decision!!! Cant wait to see those guys oving into ABA ranks over the next couple of years!!! At least people at Norwood appreciate their talents, pity others dont!!!

It's a pity people who write on this don't get there facts right. Krake plays and trains through nearly all his injuries (not that he has had many)and missed one game over Easter with injury and 1 state training. Howell missed 2 games at Easter with injury and 1 state training. So cut the crap! You will probably never find more committed basketballers than these two. They just havn't got the ego's like some of you other jerks !
agreeeeed!
"From what I have heard, the two guys who wre cut have been playing on Friday nights and not training on the weekends. IMO that shows a lack of heart"
thats a load of crap.. those 2 blokes are commited to bball 100%... so dont go accusing when you dont know antyhing about it!!
I hope they show the selectors how wrong they were during state champs then
How about well done to the boys that have made the squad - yes sometimes mistakes are made & perhaps they don't go with the right team, but at the time the coaches believe they are making the best decision. Why not get behind the remaining suad & offer support!
1 to 10
Years ago
Perhaps they should have proven it to the selectors week in week out at training instead of leaving it to the last momemt at State Champs.
Bad Luck, obviously the selectors see the potential in someone else so move on. Good luck to the guys still in the hunt and train hard for your State, not yourself!
well all the boys that got cut are going to prove that scott is wrong i still think why have zac there when he has not trained at all come on he his not that good and andrew from sturt he is another one soft player The state coach has made lots of errors. Owen he is other one only plays when he has to

All great stuff
I am pretty sure none of the players left in the squad give a shit at what you lot think, they have all worked hard to get to where they are, ability is one part of the selection process, attitude is the other, I am betting half the rubbish here is from cut players or their parents. Like I said attitude.
I'm more interested in how some of the boys still in the squad will take being bagged by players cut, some of which may be from their own club team??
douse flames

the biggest problem i see with Norwood kids is that they do get smoke blown up their backsides by club people and therefore find it hard to understand when others dont appreciate thier individual mentalities and sulking! Well done GO Flames, you knob!
douse flames,
I think we can all see who the KNOB is. Thanks for the constructive point of view, clown.
Couldn't agree more with doused flames. Members of clubs, parents and friends continuously reinforce players abilities. But often do not have the background nor understanding to fully comprehend the ramifications of their actions. Go flames and other obviously consider that those player who did not make the team have been left out due to a poor decision. However none of these people were involved with the coaching staff and I would assume have not been involved at higher levels. There actions can only confirm what these boys are probably feeling in that they have been done an injustice. Rathee, they should be seeking feedback on their posittion and asking if they have done all they can to improve. From somebody who has been around a while I guarentee that nobody in the State Squad, current or recently cut, have put in close to the level of work players like Phil Smyth did at the same age. And thus have only themselves to blame. Leave nothing to chance and do more work.
Good luck to those players remaining in all squads and ask yourself if you can do more. Then when you see the answer, do whatever it is more that yo can do.
That's Hilarious

I love how kids have more knowledge than state coaches. Next year i think we should sack all state coaches (after they pick the squad), and have the players that were cut come back and player coach with their infinite knowledge.
Well yes i do believe that the kids have more knowledge than the state coaches because they never come out to watch any of the games being played. They base thier picks entirely on trials and how good a player was several years ago.

Guys tell us your names we will nominate you for a state coach position next year
"Well yes i do believe that the kids have more knowledge than the state coaches because they never come out to watch any of the games being played"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Yeah, the kids have heaps more experience at National Championships....
Doesn't one of the assistant coaches COACH in that grade? So he would see teams every week! And I saw Robbo watching U18 games over the Easter carnival.
"base thier picks entirely on trials"
You mean, they base their picks on players playing against the players competing for the same spots, running the actual structures that the state team will run? Instead of what maybe completely different club structures? Who would've thought.....
"I hope they show the selectors how wrong they were during state champs then "
Yup, those Norwood boys really showed those state selectors who's boss.......
Greatest.... 5th placed team..... ever.
Pity they, and some other Norwood people, have come on here venting coz it got people hoping they'd fall over, coz their coach is a top bloke and deserves success.

Norwood did win summer comp and are still top after round 7 and are considered a great "TEAM"... Lucky guys like #81614 have computer keys cause crayons would spoil your screen!!!. Still some interesting cuts made from state and one interesting inclusion?
Norwood did choke is state well done to north they played well and they were the best team that day
bryce should never have been in u18 state team, he wasnt even south aussie to begin with! he is a NT person!
