2006 NBA Slam Dunk Contest competitors announced

The competitors for the 2006 NBA Slam Dunk Contest have been announced:

- Josh Smith, Atlanta Hawks, SF/SG, 6'9" 225lbs
- Andre Iguodala, Philadelphia 76ers, SG/SF, 6'6" 207lbs
- Nate Robinson, New York Knicks, PG, 5'9" 180lbs
- Hakim Warrick, Memphis Grizzlies, SF/PF, 6'9" 219lbs

Who's everyone got to win here? I predict them to finish in the above order.

And just to confirm, LeBron James WAS invited by the NBA to participate, and he declined.

does he get some kind of handicap seeing as he is a foot shorter than two of the opponents his dunk probably arent going to be as "inventive" as the big guys...

Lebron may be doing the skills challenge instead of the dunk comp. Nash is also competing as well. The dunk comp, 3pt shoot out and skills challenges all have defending champions returning to compete again.

Of course Robinson gets a handicap... Same as Spud Webb did.

I'm glad Warrick is in it, he can get up there!

I think Lebron declines to enter the dunk competition every year because he doesnt want to lose. Lebron is an amazing athlete i don't doubt that but how can u watch Josh Smith last year and be confident that your going to beat him. Lebron isnt the kind of guy to enter for fun he would be in it to win it and nothing else.

Lebron had a reverse two-handed windmill on the break in a game yesterday. It would be interesting to see what he could pull out if he tried something creative.

Surely the biggest obstacle is trying to come up with something new?

Someone needs to try the Slamnation full-flip-and-then-dunk move. That'd win.

Are you joking? Who would you put in here other than these guys? Iguodala is a nutcase, hakim gets up, nate is small and brings an unusual aspect to the contest and we've all seen what smith can pull out. This is a strong field of competitors. That said, iggy all the way!
