hey fellas..lets talk bout the up coming 2006 open basketball season...who are gonna be the strong teams?
what do you think about year 10 aswell?? who are the favourites
i think blackfriars in year 10 have a fair chance, year 9 lost only 2 games missing key players and this year have additional talent in a former div 1 player

dont count on faith being up there again, with jordy kies, shannon and the oliver twins gone....

trinity will still have a strong team, definately not as strong as last years tho with chris and brett gone, not sure about othgers like rob. they do have a strong side of year 11s this year so will still have a deep side.
No one
Years ago
Westminster wont have that great a chance, but watch out for them in 2007, they'll have a strong backcourt and an extremely good front court with an alright bench

thanks for that im sure ill remember to be scared of your school in two years time......

reynella east high put up the chalange 2 all the other schools 2 beat our open boyz team coz we want to see more games this year. doesnt every 1
i find it strange that no1 has mentioned norwood moriatla or pedare as they were the 2 finalists in yr 10 ko 2 years ago!!!!

What about modbury have they got anything this year?

REHS hav got planty of awsome players watch out!!!
awesome
Years ago
modbury, this year in year 10 we have koby, in open, we have koby, we have a shit team for both comps.. not much going in our way for a few years.. so i wnt be worryin about us
merecedes will have a good side of 10s and 11s but no year 12s of any consequence
I think everyones missing the champs. Hub. Steve Psono has moved there so theyve got. simmons, psono, yeomans, crazy leuka and others. pedare will contend with norwood. unley will be alright but dont have any legitimate bigs.
I would have placed all my money on Unley if they could find someone over 6 foot 5. Jay, Robby adcock, scott fenwick, hadyn Grimmer, Jarryd Fields and Joel Makris. All between 6'3 and 6'5 but not a true centre in the team. Steve is at Cabra not the hub.
cheers

any1 up 4 the challenge of taking on the reynella east open teamplz get incontact wid our special sport techers. we'll take any1 to the floor!!!!

don't know if sam hemmings would enjoy being referred to as an 'it.' He's at hallett cove
yeah norwood morialta have a strong team from the sounds of it, Zac Johnson, Ben Howell, Owen Giovine and Luke Giles. All play for norwood 18's. They might have a few other guys as well
im so happy that even in term 1 we have started up for another year of self promotion and bickering.
by the way my team rules and your sucks

Modbury girls are alright.. they might get to finals depending on what schools they play, although they will not win..
Trinity to repeat and if BASA doesnt mess up the festival again then Trinity will complete the double like they should have last year.
golden grove girls pretty strong wiyh couple of girls coming up to open this year
Clausen, Cameron and Brett gone means trinity dnt have ne1

Loreto open girls looked really strong last weekend.i heard they had quite a few district and state players.
Haha. Trinity. Yeah, good luck trying to compete after losing Chris 'fake accent' Clausen, Cameron and Collins. Won't even make the dance.
'fake accent' Clausen?? his dads american so maybe thats why!!??
Thought Rob was doing yr 12 over two years? if he is... Trinity for the double.

lol, fake accent clausen. yes his dad is american and he doesnt have an accent anyway. btw i prefered chris "asthon kutcher" clausen.

We struggled a little at Nationals last year but hopefully we can perform better at home.. Our Unley boys should be oright..
As for the girls, the mixed age groups could help with a couple gun year 8's and most of last years team, we should do oright
yeah trinity might have lost clausen cameron and collins but the year 10 team did not lose a game year so they obviously have a strong team to go undefeated dont count them out yet
rob is finishing year 12 at st columbia. trinity might do the double but unlikely. we'll see if their year 11s from last year are going to step up to the plate.
there yr 11's from last year didnt do much they pretty much sat and watched as rob brett and chris tore up the year 10's did it all by them selves
Steve csono is at reynella east now, there team is pretty good now. cameron ellis from sturt is there, they have a wicked shooting team, and there offenses posted around steve and cameron. I dont think many people will be able to stop them. nearly everyone in the team plays district. good coach aswell, anyone from wirreanda, christies, cardijn and the hub we are looking for teams to play against. call our school for more details.

All this talk is rubbish. The only teams that have a realistic chance at winning the title are: Unley, SHC, Mercedes and possibly Norwood Morialta and Cardijn.

REHS have one of the best opens boy team in ther state at the moment they have a couple of masive fowards, 2 fantastic shooters who both have the capability 2 knock 7 threes each per game and a point gaurd with great potential.
Anonymous
Years ago
they sure do, im not in the team but i got to REHS nd i have seen them train nd they have a player who ve herd his name is scott who dominates the shooting from the ark and with steve and cameron in the post to clean up nd make sum big moves they're a shoo in this year.
VC fan
Years ago
btw its arc, unless he dominates shooting from a large wooden ship. any i dont think having a point guard with, 'potential' is going to do much seeing as opens starts in a few months.
a few months is planty of time to develop a dominating gaurd
St Ignatius.. youll see what happens when you play us. we are the biggest team in the comp.
Anonymous
Years ago
St Ignatius, this sounds like a challange u put forward, contact reynella east high school we think we can take u. just a friendly match, u pik the court
alright, is stevo in your team? i played iwth him at forrestvile, ill call him and try and set it up. we have a tournament in melbourne starting in week 1 holidays so we are actually looking for some matches.
how about pasenda high they have a few dis player also they will do will they have a great coach also
Anonymous
Years ago
sounds great stevoi is in our team u call him nd we'll go from there ill look 4wARD TO PLAYIN U
pedare is a gun team this year with alot of district players. even with gaurds and talls with a great shooting team in side and out. so dont rule us out
so pedare were did all these players come from last year cause your open team sucked last year your yeaR 10 team sucked aswell so were did all tghese players come from
TA4L
Years ago
pedare are shit.. i dont see them travelling far.. watching there open team last year then playing against there year 10 team, i see no prential in the A league of Open.. if they play i the B league they may have a chance of getting into finals, but cant see them winnning it

was at our basketball presentations last year and the Head of Athletics said something about a change in the way highschool basketball is played, it sounded similar to the American highschool system. if thats the case ther wont even be a tens team. if thats the case so dont quote me on it.
that would be awesome but it isnt happening at least this year
those guys who were just baggin pedare our open team won year 10 two years ago and have to former state players (one will probably make it this year) and a cureent aba reserve player, the reason we werent that good last year is because we had NO year 12s playing only 10's and 11's
VC fan
Years ago
abl reserves? some schools have abl players in their team, but i havent seen your school play so i aint saying that theyre crap.
the guy plays abl reserves for centrals, i forget his name, the guy with the curly afro.
VC fan
Years ago
your not talking about the one who plays 18s div 1 are u, cause he goes 2 trinity
nah played him last year, he played for trinity.
nah nah he plays u/20's as well as reserves his a good short forward for someone 6'7"
VC fan
Years ago
pretty sure the only tall guys with 'fros that play centrals 18s and 20s go to trinity
apparently there no year 10 teams this year? at our school theres only open a, b and c teams for yr 10,11 and 12 kids.. and any youngens that are good enough 2 play a's... is this the same at other schools?
many a youngen will make it...there will be a year 10 comp though ive seen the schedule

Years ago
Yeah as far as I know there will now be Open As, Bs and Cs for years 10-12 and As, Bs, and Cs for 8s and 9s combined.
Good idea I think, as most 10s were doubling up and playing opens anyway.

a new team that hasn't been mentioned, is CBC. they should be aiight this yr, and def lookin for a strong yr. had a disappointing yr last yr, but returnin player and a talented startin5 should see them go far. GO DOLPHINS!!
the draw has come out. i only know pool D which is :
St Ignatius
Trinity
Pedare
St Pauls
RE: 75292
don't know if this has been mentioned or not there to many posts to read! but what i think he might have ment was that this year there will be not open A and B aswell as yr 10 A and B, due to lack of teams there will be just a senior comp (1, 2 and 3)
ORYT ive had ENOUGH!!!
the last 500 posts r all bullshit and for nothing.
thers only ..1.. team in the league.
SAINT MICHAELS.
they have CHRIS MOLITOR.. he will destroy ne1 who comes within 2 metres of him. the guys an absolute animal. saint michales 2 win it. by ALOT!
if you are putting all your hopes and dreams on the back of one player, you're in for a rude shock when you come up against some schools with a couple of okay players. The teams that do well, are good teams, not just teams with good players.
btw - the person from reynella east high who is challenging anyone - how you tell your teacher to put you in the schools competition, instead of asking other schools to 'hook up' games with you. You'd be able to play 15 decent games over terms 2-3 instead of a handful against average teams.
Let's all try this:
Instead of telling us about who your mates are, and why 'they is da bestest' just tell us where your school teams strengths and weaknesses are. Perhaps then this thread won't turn into another 500 post thread about who talks the most crap and boasts the most.
anonymous, REHS cant enter into the ISSA comp where all the good teams play because they are not an independant school and they would have enough teams to meet the requirements like AHS, UHS and Norwood do
VC fan
Years ago
Oh yea, forgot to mention that my school has the best team this year cause we have this new player no one has heard of but he is the best school player in the state and will dominate every team by himself, meaning that we will win the whole comp easily because we are the best school in the state.
so REHS, stop complaining and stop making claims that you cant back up. no one cares if you cant make the competition.
St Michaels wont go anywhere. This sounds exactly like last year until they got stomped by unley at the finals. Unley are gona kill it man.
VC Fan - that's great that you got a new player, but what school do you go to? so we can watch you kill everyone?
VC fan
Years ago
It was a joke man, I was just trying to be like everyone else....
this year molitor will pretty much be unstoppable, unley have alot of depth though
dolphin, I wouldn't class CBC's last year as "disappointing". They won 8 and lost 3, not a bad effort
just wondering..... how many distric players do Unley have in the B's and A's and wat div's do they play??????
A's
Jarryd Fields - Forstville 18's Div 1
Jay - Foretville 20's div 2
Hadyn Grimmer - Sturt 18's div 1
James Boonstopall - Forestville 18's div 1
Scott Fenwick - Sturt 20's div 1
Jack Garret - Sturt 20's div 1
Adam Selfe - Forestville 20's div 2
Tom Gale - Sturt 18's div 2
Rob Adcock - Sturt 20's div 2
B's
Tim Klaosen - Sturt 18's div 2
Alex Wright - Sturt 18's div 2
3 16 div one players (2 sturt, 1 forestville)
Rick Borreli - Sturt 18's div 3
Only two guys not currently playing distric, although noth have in the past
Nick Stuart and mike shortt

that james boonstoppel guy is overated, he should play b's.
how many of the unley opens boys will are in year 12?
so whos the best player for Unley this year in the A's and the B's?
i heard the pasadena high have a couple of dist players also div1 players and dliv 2 they should be good team also
who do cabra have this year? Will they be a dominant force?
hey can anyone who goes to rostrevor confirm if they have the adelaide lightning or fellas coach coaching tehm?
u20 first year, in state and also gets minutes in aba, hes about 6'7 and he can shoot treys
What's the difference between a 6'7" player that can shoot 3s well and a 6'0" player that can shoot 3s well? Serious question, so don't be a smartass and say "7 inches of height". Just seems like it kind of defeats the purpose of having a big guy in there if they're not gonna score inside easily over smaller people
for one it means he isnt just a one dimensional big guy it is saying that he has skills and he can hurt you from outside aswell, secondly 7 inches of extra height doesnt matter in school ball but in college or anywhere important it does.
are you on hard core medication or something? seven inches of height is freakin rediculous. Height makes a massive difference in school ball....
Unley beat St. Michaels in a make up knock out game thursday by 12... with only 8 of their 10 players playing
Yeh Unley looking like the team to beat, although can't help but notice how much their state title winning team from 3 or 4 years ago would smash this team by. Was that year just amazing or is the standard of basketball as a whole decliening?
hey who are those two girls dat play for pedare in the open b's?
shaun
Years ago
sweet, post the same qusetion in separate threads, well done.
sweet, post the same question in seperate posts, well done.
Unley should be every good next year but then the standard will drop again
maybe from the perspective of someone that has already finished school the standard would drop, just like people say "we werent that small when we were in year 8"

the 2 girls that play open b's for pedare are mel smith and jordy dickie. i wouldnt wright off pedare just yet as they did not lose a game in their pool which include the highly rated st. iggies and defending champs trinity. every one of their players played in the christian schools u/16 or open state teams. with krake and bradbrook running the back court and herriman, smith, and goodchild at the front, they are gonna be tough. not much bench strength with 2 non players but their starters are that good it doesnt make much difference
Shaun

i wish we (st iggies) played pedare with a full team... would have been so much more interesting. we were missing chief and myself when we played you and went down by 4 i think? or something like that, under ten at least.

mel smith goes to pedare, also plays for north. i think pedare are going to be a force in the ko finals
i seen pedare play several times at minor strength missing key players...r krake and bradbrooke only gaurds they have or is there something off the bench for them...does anyone no?
unley girls have yr8s in there team an they r pretty gun we played them an got smashed so they have a gd chance
