Women's College Transfer Portal 2025 - Australian Players

The Women's NCAA college basketball portal closes this Wednesday (Aus time). Players can sign with a new program up until the new semester starts, so probably early August.

A few Aussie women have already signed or soon to announce. Likely that some of the Freshman 1st year players listed below have been advised to transfer and may not get another D1 opportunity.

About 25% of eligible Women’s college basketball players have entered the transfer portal. At the moment approx. 33% of the players in the portal have either signed elsewhere or a small percentage returned to their current school
Probably missed a few others who should also be on the list. Any news or updates please feel free to comment.

Also as a consequence of the Coaching merry go round that happens at the same time.
Bonnie Deas – Arkansas. With a recent coaching change at Arkansas, Bonnie can reopen her recruiting (within the next couple of days). 7 players from Arkansas entered the portal with 5 already transferring. A number of Power 5 college programs are hoping that Bonnie will reopen her recruiting.

Jacobs has been terrific so good to see she's gone to another level.
Crawshaw and Deas should also be playing in bigger conferences.

While it's great to see such freedom to move, it must play havoc with any college’s basketball program if their squad is uncertain year by year, especially when many from a single program opt for the portal.

Last Tear Poa confirmed to Arizona State.

Deas - Arkansas is in the SEC which was the top rated conference this past year, including South Carolina, LSU and Texas. However Arkansas placed last. It should be a no-brainer to reopen recruiting, let the new coach recruit you, see what other programs are now interested, open more doors. The colleges will pay for costs of visits. The landscape changes so quick. The team that recruits you now, but you dont select might be a good option in year 2/3/4, especially if there are new rules changes ( a change from an international student visa to some type of working visa for example - payments would suddenly become very important). Arkansas have just signed 3 new guards, 2 of them from the new coaches previous school, pretty clear those players will be well looked after.

Interesting situations now where coaches can leave a program and essentially take players with them to the new school. Georgia Amoore a good recent example of that.

Transfer portal has ruined college basketball. Bring back sitting out a year unless coach leaves.

Smaller colleges develop players, big ones swoop in and reap rewards.
First sign of adversity and player enters portal.
Every season it's just free agents changing clubs, no teams that start as freshman and finish as seniors. So many great coaches have quit because they know it's a losing battle, have to reload every year.
