NBL1 Central 2025

Anyone got the good word on rosters ahead of round 1? It seems extremely weird that some clubs have only announced 4 players by this point

Looks like the NBL1 leagues won't be on Kayo this season.

How to watch?

To catch all the NBL1 action, head to the NBL1 website or App to watch every game.

https://nbl.com.au/news/nbl-players-in-nbl1-season-preview

Which could suggest the NBL will have a new broadcast partner next season as I can't imagine LK would be happy with this.

Forestville are stacked in the men's. Starling apparently wanted to return to South but they said no, maybe they're being fiscally responsible after a few years of spending. So that'll be the fifth club for him. And DJ wouldn't be cheap either. Both of them. So will be odds on favourite, but West are announcing a few new signings as well so Deanos got the chequebook out again.
Sturt should be consistent as usual, the rest will really depend on how their imports/recruits stack up.
Can't see Central winning the women's again after they did a Forestville last year and bought the title. Woodville should jump off the bottom after picking up a few good players, but would say Forestville would be favourite there as well, at least they have their juniors that'll actually play minutes.
Just hoping an underdog team will beat the big spenders, so sick of teams buying titles.

Congrats to club who are prepared to invest in talent retention. If wasn't the case players like DJ djv dech high end talent be exiting comp and depriving local from experience these guys building grass roots interest in game. More clubs support player sixer retention the better. Got keep interst and future

I wish I was shocked but as expected BSA staff have failed to understand their reality isn't the whole world. While they advertise for helpers and people to fill roles which require training just 10 days out from start date, the basketball public has nothing. No hype, no excitement, no info. Just a puff piece on Erin Phillips, the greatest AFLW player of all time.
The lack of any media preview of the League for the first time ever falls squarely on that office.

The NBL1 West have a full preview available, for a competition starting 8 days after publication, and yet in NBL1 Central we can't even get full rosters on the website or tracker.

BSA required squad lists from the Clubs weeks ago, they know who is currently contracted, but once again their inability to work together with their collegues or do even the miniumum required has left the public in the dark.

Go Eagles!

Got to be fair. It's a pretty big umbella of comp they look after. 7 days virtually 24 / 7 in many ways. Maybe nbl1 central needs to take more ownership.. can't keep passing the buck to others.

The only way to even remotely keep track of player signings is to follow every clubs social media page.
Just looked on the nbl1 app and it has the rosters there.

Not sure if I'm missing something but is anyone else able to cast from the nbl1 app to their tv?

Thanks Dorito for reminding me when I posted it.
Is the money owed the amount the allegedly bailed him out at North or is it another debt? Would be careful making claims without substance. I suppose Forestville must have taken over this alleged debt, else why grant him a clearance. I know juniors can't get one if they're unfinancial, doesn't it apply to Woolcott winners?
Amazing how you allege he racks up debts everywhere he goes, be care Eagles.
Must have been a helluva lot if they have to put out a budget team this year.

Well all the hype on Phillips should now be rested. First half 16+ minutes 0 points and 6 rebounds. Give the hype to Fejo whom is actually getting the work done. Wasn't for her it wouldn't have even been close. Heard Erin is sore as hell today LOL

Erin looked alright doing boundary rider duties for 7 for the Crows game today.

At almost 40 I doubt too many expected Erin to dominate for Woodville. She had a pretty decent stat line 4p, 8r, 6a, 3s but shot 1-10 FG (1-2 3p). Not bad for her first game of basketball in 9 years.

Even if it's true, South have a lot cheaper team than the previous 4 or so years unless there's a late addition. My point is they spent up big to compete with Forestville and wherever Deano goes, now the bubble has burst and they're back to the field.
As for Phillips, it will depend on what role she settles into. At least they have a coach she would respect, and despite her age, her body is in very good shape. Should do better as season goes on.
And Forestville looked fairly ordinary last night, for leagues biggest team they shot more fadeaways than posting up in the paint. Wasn't till Gristci got ejected that they pulled away. And if they have to get Starling chasing 3s around the I doubt he'll get DPOY again. Andy's coaching philosophy just looked ordinary.

I looked up Starling it seems after the 36ers released him he went and played for a team in Malaysia. I think it's only semi-pro though. He averaged 12 and 9 there but shot poorly including a woeful 1-21 on 3p in his 9 games. The team's leading scorer was ex-Sixer Alex Mudronja and their #2 scorer was Jock Perry, who I think was a DP for the JackJumpers.

DJV scored 31 but shot sub-.500 from the field and poor on 3p's. The old DJ only scored 14 I wonder how much lobger he will tolerate that situation.
