His last 3 games had produced 8 points, 2 points and 5 points. That's hardly getting back into form

I still dont get why we kept him all season, should have been booted at the start of the season. Must have an airtight contract.

As a returning import his contract would be guaranteed for the season.

More time for Dech and Marshal. This is a team upgrade.

Considering across the last 6 games Marshall has logged 5 DNP - Coaches Decision and the 6th game he saw 43 seconds with the rest of the bench I highly doubt he will be the beneficiary of more court time with Martin out.

Does Ben Griscti still exist? How about giving him some minutes as a 'like for like' replacement. It was a crazy decision to blow roster spots on both him and Rigoni, they're DP level players.

As said above, should have been shown the door as soon as he arrived, yes he might have had a contract but contracts clearly state you must turn up in playing condition as well as passing fitness test, he certainly didn't. It was rumoured at time that SEM were looking at him and walked away, now that tells you a lot.
Zodiac

The club knew they were signing an injured player therefore no requirement to pass a fitness test. It was the whole reason we signed Harrell in the first place.
Dunkman
Earlier this year
No Harrell was signed up when they realised how bad shape Martin was in. Who in their right mind signs an injured player on top dollar with out passing fitness tests. Prather was signed last season on minimum salary and also this season, clearly a different situation to Martin. I've always thought Martin being a good, not great player and team player but he’s been a bust for Sixers this season.

Martin got injured after he arrived
36ers knew he was a WIP when he arrived. He got an entirely new injury because of the training he was put through upon arrival . That might be convenient for Martin but no one can prove otherwise.
Master Chief
Earlier this year
How can you prove/know for sure what caused an injury?
If Adelaide win tonight, and SEM lose their next game, we are in??
Zodiac
Earlier this year
Martin did his knee halfway through last season the Sixers signed him knowing He was going to miss the start of the season, hence the Harrell signing. Yes, Martin re-injured himself trying to get back on the court and that is why we kept Harrell on and had to waive Starling. Stop trying to re-write history.

Earlier this year
My understanding is he arrived well enough and was able to train etc then got an ankle or foot injury. 36ers knew he would still need to get into playing condition when he arrived but were happy to take that risk. I assume they got him under market value because of this.
36ers win tonight they are in according to the NBL ladder predictor, unless they drop a game by a huge margin that brings the JJ's percentage back into play.
36ers could still finish 5th depending on SEM wins and losses as I work it out.

The only issue is that Jarrell Martin is a big unit at 208cm tall and there is no logical replacement for his minutes on the court replacing Humphries or Harrell at the defensive end.
Zodiac
Earlier this year
If we can't beat a Bullets team at home missing half their roster without Martin's 8p & 4r we're in a world trouble.
I would be giving Humphries the night off too, we should still beat the Bullets comfortably and perhaps fires him up for the SEM game on Sunday which is a lot more important.

Adelaide just need to win tonight and they are in. At this late stage of the season Tasmania would have to win their games by a combined 50+ to make up the 3.5% they are behind Adelaide. Plus, Adelaide would have to go 0-3 to finish the season.
LaPark

We've gone away from that Harrell/Martin frontcourt closing games, so at the very least if the game is close it hopefully doesn't impact our rotations too much.
I imagine we'll just see Mayen move back to the bench to take Martin's minutes, Dech back into the starting 5 and maybe Marshall to take a bit more time spelling Dech.

The Instagram story by KD is apparently a message to Adelaide fans thanking them incase tonight is his last game in Adelaide...
He could legitimately mean that from a logical standpoint, but it also doesn't suggest much confidence from him personally that he’ll be back next season…

I wouldn't have thought there would be much chance of KD being back next season. He's line for a massive pay day, a pay day most NBL teams couldn't afford.

Yea, if we're talking about Cotton leaving the NBL for a big payday in Japan I imagine Davis is a massive chance to receive similar offers.
It'll be interesting to see how the NBL handles that though given how much marketing has been built around Cotton and around Davis/Harrell this year who I suspect will be in Europe instead of Australia next.

December 2023 Martin did patella injury playing for Galatasaray. 12 months last December and still struggling, I'm far from convinced that he’s been a good signing, next season on the right money perhaps.

Harrell's in for a rude awakening if he goes to Europe. If not back here with a Melb/Syd I could see him going to say China. Don't think he would last long in Europe, nor do I think he has the guts to sign there, he's a downhill skier.

Sixers should win as long as Humphries/Harrell stay out of foul trouble.
Would start Dech and have Mayen play minutes at 4. Would expect minutes from Marshall and/or Rasmussen tonight.

Not all imports are driven by money. Many have stayed over the years for the Australian lifestyle, being a big fish in a small pond, their playing style not stifled, etc etc.
Who is out for Brisbane tonight?

Yeah I saw this, doesn't seem promising for him remaining? If it comes down to money, let's hope they can work something out? The NBL is the perfect league for smaller point guards, but if he gets the opportunity to go to a league where he can continue grow as a professional you can't blame him.

MC, the Bullets are that depleted they've been starting Tohi Smith-Milner at PF, he could barely get on the court at the Sixers last season. Trez should eat him alive.
Harrison, Bannan, Zikarsky, McDaniel, Bairstow all didn't play in their last game and obviously Josh Adams is in for Batemon.
LaPark

I don't hate Smith-Milner, I just don't like watching him play cause it gives me flashbacks to last years CJ Bruton side where we had periods of games where the best shot we could pull off was a TSM contested 3 pointer.

Martin was a good signing but very risky when it was apparent he was working his way back from injury and having that guaranteed contract. Would imagine they thought he'd space the floor with Humphries. Then when Harrell came in they would have thought they could bring him along slowly, but he's just never fit in. Combination of limited preparation, Harrell and not being aggressive. As the first big off the bench he should be a candidate for 6th man. Don't think many teams would touch him now in case he has another bad season with guaranteed money. At least with someone like Marcus Lee there's not as high a ceiling but he does his job on defence and rolling to the rim. JJs wish he'd returned, but seemed to get in foul trouble a bit with silly fouls.
So unless Martin cuts a Prather deal he should be gone. And while Prather took a discount for the lifestyle, his wife does an excellent job reporting on the sidelines and both adds income as well as experience for her career, so it's win win for him.
So it's not a huge out, but its the Sixers, can never really have a smooth week. And Davis's goodbye message implies he expects to get paid elsewhere or he won't return if Wells survives. So next season it'll be another round of new faces. Apart from the imports they really need to add one or two locals for depth.

On offense we usually use Martin as the corner 3 man and unfortunately his shot has been off most of the year from there. If he could hit those consistently it'd of made a much bigger impact.
He was a 40% shooter from 3 his first year with the Kings and 37% in the second, that's down to 33% this year and overall he's shooting 43% to 50% and 51.4% in his 2 years with the Kings.

Amazing ability to miss easy baskets at the rim so far tonight. Being a bit too cute with things at times too on the offensive end, especially Harrell.
Davis looks like he's gone into "I'll do it myself" mode, which we need a bit to get the score moving.

Very average from Sixers and refs certainly got the home cooking going, that call on Cook was horrible, Davis was never there but sticks his head there and gets the call. Brisbane been good for what they have playing, refs got so many of them in foul trouble it could still finish ugly.

Gonna be very on brand for the 36ers to stumble when things start looking like they're heading in the right direction.
Smith-Milner, I'd watch him clank 3's in warmups like crazy and now he's like Steph Curry out there!

Fiston, peaks in under 16s then ordinary once everyone else matured. Ordinary in nbl1 yet gets the opportunity.
Good old Adelaide, team is cursed but due to injuries might sneak in when they shouldn't. Be interesting in the change rooms.
