RIP Darryl Pearce
Sad news. My fave sixer when I began supporting them. Fantastic shooter. Condolences to his loved ones.

Wow, a lot of 80's and 90's guns seem to be leaving us.
What a jet the iceman was. One of true outside bombers before it became the epidemic it is today.
One of those guys you were terrified of as a fan, he was lethal from well outside the arc.
What a sad day.

This is sad, RIP Iceman.
I loved him and Mike McKay together terrorising opposition back courts.
Especially sad because I don't think he is 'that' old.

Earliest memories of basketball was him, Davis, Bill Jones, McKay, Green, Nelson etc playing. Although, apart from only seeing random highlights over the years, can still remember the perfect form on his jumpshot. All those trainers out there should pull videos of him to teach shooting technique.
Ranking 13th all time in 3 point makes and nearly 42% career 3 point percentage is incredible numbers, and a very healthy scoring average as well.
He was 64 I believe. Rip.

They said on news he died suddenly, looking at photos from last year he didn't look top great.
Loved him as a player, was shattered when Maher took.his spot. Got over that pretty quickly.
Loved his shooting and his calm demeanour. One of the invincible. Sure those guys and his family are feeling it tonight. RiP Iceman.

RIP Iceman. I'm all about the 80s and it sucks people from that decade are already dying.
Especially sad because I don't think he is 'that' old.

So sad. What a genuinely nice person who also had one of the purest jumpshots we've seen. RIP.

I posted on r/Adelaide about the interviews during the Sixers v Hawks game:
They interviewed Al Green, who was sat next to Ken, about his relationship with Darryl. Al said they were both scorers and when Darryl got the three-point specialist role, Al had to adapt and hated Darryl. He said, in time, Ken coached them towards being very close teammates and friends. I grew up through NEBC that became Torrens Valley, so Al was a big part of my basketball life - great to see / hear from him.
Paraphrasing (Kayo would have the full interview around half time in the game):
When they interviewed Ken, he mentioned all his players being special to him, but Darryl was more like a son. He talked about helping Darryl "through some dark times that he thought were behind him, but obviously, they were not". He went on to say not to take friendships for granted as you don't know when someone will leave us.
