Hawks v JJs 7.30 aedt.

Oh boy what happens here, both coming off unexpected loss, hawks at home might sway this, certainly with Magnay out but never take the JJs lightly. Just hope it's a cracker, I just think maybe JJs by one.

I'll stick with Illawarra for no other reason than home court.

Expecting Froling to bounce back from a poor game against Cairns when I thought he'd have a field day.

The lack of Magnay could hurt Tassie tonight even more than it did against SEM

Will be interesting to see how the JJs scheme for this one, given the beating they took earlier in the year.

Good game happening here, and lo and behold solid D by both sides. Hawks by two at quarter.

Hawks have come out firing in the second.

JJs need to make some shots

Hawks by 13, both sides playing good D, hawks shooting at 50%, JJs at 35%. JJs certainly right in this despite the score. Hickey been very good for hawks so far. No one really standing out for JJs, just got make their shots.

Yep 35% ain't gonna cut it for the JJs....hoping for a better 3rd quarter for the away team.

Hummer been ok too. MacDonald been excellent. Hawks again over dribbling it. Olbrich been great. Imo Froling travels a lot.

How was that hickey block not called a foul. Cotton kicks his legs out and gets touched and it's a foul. Just some consistency pls

JJs not getting the rub of the green but kudos to the Hawks - second quarter won it for them.

The Hickey block

Come on now that shit needs to be called - crucial part of the game

Cracking game if you like it though, solid D, good skills. Kell clearly best player on the floor, how did Harvey get it, just look at the stats. Why start Days ahead of Froling at start 3rd ahead Peatling, let JJs back in the game, Roth also got MacDonald on to late in the last imo. Yes some consistency on calls, as said above, Cotton gets hit like that he'd get ten free throws. MacDonald is my sort point guard, full package.

Was still recovering from that missed layup when Hickey flew in at Mach speed 1 to send Crawford into the second tier

Referring in this game was so inconsistent. With how good the league is ,the referees need to be more consistent. To many soft calls that don't impact the game then let blatant & hard fouls go. Do a better job

Good summary Dunkman

Hate being a supporter who has a crack at refs but consistency (both ends) and crucial no calls can and does influence games. Frustrating.

How about the tech on Froling for the 'headbutt' that might take the prize of worst call this season

the hickey clean up of Crawford is on the Nbl social media........spose that is how it is interpreted worth some promotion.

If that was Cotton / Goulding what would the call have been???

If they had already been given a delay of game warning then I've got no issue with a T for that.
(If they hadn't, then yeah that's a warning only)

Roth fuming in the press conference. He's probably right but that’s basketball, always has and always will be.

Roth has every right to be fuming.

He does not ride the refs as much as others, can understand his frustration after the last couple of games.

Yep the JJs need to focus on the controllables that can work on and that is what we will hear from Roth but I would be surprised if he is not reaching out for clarification from the NBL on the direction of officiating.

As I have said previously have absolutely no problem with fouls etc being called but needs to happen at both ends. The Hickey non call is one in comparison to a lot of soft body fouls in d being called at the other end.

Roth always speaks well.
While totally agree it was a foul, as I said that's basketball.
Magnay is the block champion but quite often also follows through and hits the body.
What we as fans, coaches and players need is consistency on calls.
You can’t have Cotton on the line with the slightest touch or kick out which is outside his cylinder and others get nothing.
I use Cotton as an example but there are others.
All in all though it’s still a great league.
