Sixers vs Hawks, Nov 10

Cracking game, hawks good start turning to rabble, Sixers kicking now. Foul count heavily in Sixers favour.

After trailing early, sixer flexing their muscle, they are looking the real deal. Hawks looking rudderless, who is doing their scout hasn't got it right.

Except at the WNBL game last night, apparently:

Great to see 6ers import Martin & Harrell out watching the Lightning Vs Lynx game last night. Martin was especially accommodating to all requests for autographs & photos but also engaging in small talk with young fans when approached. Unfortunately Harrell was the complete opposite & actually told all young fans that dared to approach him that their engagement 'needed to be quick', he was aloof & looked anything but approachable which was really disappointing & left many young fans shaking their heads after their engagement with Harrell!

Good first half.

Harrell struggles defensively against Froling, to be fair Froling does have a big height advantage over him. I Didn't like Vasiljevic flexing at Days.

The sixers look so much better when they're running plays through KD. For some reason they fall into a rut of iso ball for periods and especially when things are going well. Nearly let the hawks back into this one.

Martin really is the key to whether they're going to figure at seasons end I think

Agreed Martin looks to be getting fitter each game so hopefully by season's end he's back to his old self.

Davis is a gun, Harrell is entertaining, Martin and DJV are vey good and Sunday is the glue, a few reasonable subs and Sixers should be top four. Illawarra make to many subs, I'm not convinced on the assistant coaches helping Tatum like last season younger blokes. Kell D is lacking and Hickey looked injured at times and he’s needed big time. Olbrich needs more time as well.

I was at the Lightning game and a lot of people were approaching Trez and Jarell when they were getting some food. After that they were happy to do some pics and were very polite to my kid.

And probably fair enough wanting a quick interaction. They were there to watch a game. Not on 36er duties.

Sounds like an over reaction then, I don't understand why people expect public facing people should have zero space and infinity patience

For the first few minutes the Hawks couldn't miss and the 36ers couldn't buy a basket. Looked like the NZ game all over again. Interesting that Mike Wells didn't call a time out but trusted the guys on the court to turn it around which they duly did.

Martin seemed to move better tonight so fitness is gradually improving and he was involved in more ways as he could move around the court better. Occasionally there were signs of good inside play with both the bigs working together and the guards driving and dishing off either to a big or a 3 point shooter.

Defence is still an issue although it is getting better. Consistency will come when the team get used to each other with a settled roster. Wells also seems to be using mainly an 8 man rotation which certainly gives the guys on court time to get into a rhythm rather than the constant change some coaches do playing 11 players before quarter time. Works well as long as no injuries - finals is actually a possibility in reality rather than mathematically.

Harrell posted after the WNBL game on his Instagram that he didn't want to take attention away from the game and players by taking photos/signing with so many people. I get that stance, it just turns into an unfortunate situation where someone will come across as the bad guy if they say no.

Starts are still a concern for the 36ers and they've shown they can overcome that at home, but it's a lot more difficult when they try it away. Part of me thinks they should try and keep it simple early and let Humphries work down low, rather than DJ trying to heat check early, though Humphries did miss his shots early too. Martin playing into shape nicely it seems, I thought originally they might send Harrell back to being 6th man, but don't see that happening now.

Let's get one thing absolutely correct... Harrell and Martin were sitting in my corporate courtside box yesterday at the Lightning game. I can 100% categorically say Harrell took everything single request for a photo and/or an autograph without hesitation or denying one single person and in great spirits!
So please stop with this pathetic accusations/lies.
I would go further and say both Harrell and Martin would be the best mannered and polite gentleman I have come across in 20 years in Adelaide. Two absolute ripper guys, so please stop with all the nonsense and garbage!

Except perthworld that wasn't the case my family and many others got autos from him , he was more than happy to do it and made the kids be orderly and line up , now after this he had just bought food and a parent a couple kids approached him and asked for a auto , he said I’ve just got my dinner could you come back in 20 minutes , this particular adult wasn’t happy with that , made crass a comment towards him and stormed off , I wouldn’t want to sign a auto either for him after that either

Funny reading your comment ushiro although i couldn't agree more. There's basically no team in the league currently that is consistent and has solid D.

I thought it was hawks or united but now they've both proven me wrong too

I don't recall the whole league being as hot and cold as this without exception before

There's gonna be a log jam for those positions 3-6 I suspect

It's prob time for the sixers to string some together over the coming games with their full roster available and Harrell in the form he's in

Probably the most complete performace under Wells so far? It never really felt as if they'd lose, but somehow game was still in the balance so easily early in that 4th quarter. I do not think there has been a game all season where Adelaide have been comfortable leaders for too long. We got the exact same narrative that bizzarely happens at the start of each game it seems; opposition cannot miss, the crowd goes quiet, Sixers cannot make a shot.

It might not matter who starts anyway, but I really thin Martin needs to start at the 4 next to Harell now.

Kolzee, agreed, another really tight and all over the place type season. BTW, I meant to acknowledge in another thread that you were called a troll for your opinions, so apologies. I forget to get back to discussions sometimes.

I'm pretty confident the 36ers can make the playoffs. Not sure how far they can get, but given how poor the team has been the last 6-7 years I'll take it!

Davis indicated after the game that Mike Wells had another go at him over his defence. It seems like Davis can take it (in a "well I'll show you" type response way), but hopefully he doesn't act that way with every player because that's a recipe for resentment to start breeding. I did like how Davis said previously that Wells had KD come to his house to go over game tape together, so sounds like there's at least some level of constructive criticism in there.

The way Davis plays, he has a bright future, very mature basketballer IMO.

All good, no apology needed MC. Just keen to focus on the bball!

Sixers can def make playoffs. In fact I suspect the current top 6 might be the final ones... although in a different order.

The flip side to the cautious optimism is that the 36ers need to start jagging away games, they can't make the 6 if they don’t.

What’s worse is they have lost a couple of away games so badly that their percentage is shot and 36ers never win at home that handily.

Even SEM have a better %

It's been an up and down start for every team, but so far Adelaide have kept themselves on an even keel with a 6-4 record having played six home games.

It's not quite the barnstorming 7-3 finish to last season from only five home games but it's a solid enough start. If they can improve defensively then they should be able to make finals with the offensive talent they have.

The thing they have continued on from the second half of last year is they are fun to watch at home, and that is very important to keep the fans rolling in.

The downside is there are few signs of improvement on the road.

This is such an accurate summary of the season so far.

From a Wildcats perspective it helps them since they can finish anywhere in this 3-6 shitfest and claim 'playoffs'.

I wouldn't count it as 6 home games given 1 was in Perth vs Sydney.

They’re 5-0 in home games, 0-1 in neutral and 1-3 away.

If Adelaide beats Melb away, it very much changes the complexion on things tbh. It puts Adelaide in the formidable top 4 proposition range.

If they lose, people will justifiably say Adelaide need to be better away if they want this season to matter at the business end

Coincidental your comment PW because as I looked at it I was thinking if perth can survive and probably grow without cotton then sneak into the play in then they're well placed to be a sneaky for the finals series
