NBL Ladder After Round 3

Strangest ladder I have ever seen in the NBL. What would a bet be worth on picking this?
New Zealand
Illawarra
Sydney
cairns
Melbourne
Adelaide
Tasmania
Perth
Brisbane
SE.

Sure, it's only round 3, but I reckon that only Adelaide and Brisbane are playing fair and are roughly where they should be. The others are either dreaming or having nightmares (nightmaring?). Will be interesting following the ladder this season.

My takes are Breakers will cool off when they return home, Hawks will be pushing for top 2 all season, as will Sydney, Cairns are a legit top 4 team as things stand, Melbourne are hard to read, Adelaide will remain in top 6 contention with good health and holding onto Harrell, who knows about Tassie, Perth are in some trouble but we'll see, Bullets are pretty dismal and need to cut an import and bring in a superstar for any change, SEM need to turn their fortunes around real quick

It's hard to see Adelaide beating the Kings even at home and beating Melbourne away especially when that would require Melbourne losing two straight home games.

As a pessimist I’d see 36ers fall to 2-4 but would be super happy if they grabbed the opportunity to then go 4-4. If they can manage that, they’re in that 6/7 conversation, if they go 3-5 or 2-6 then it’d be an early season hole to get themselves out of.

Perth will be fine. Benefit of having one of the best NBL players ever on your roster.

Tassie will surge when they get healthier.

Cairns and Adelaide the big winners from that weekend

Armstrong has taken a big step forwards, and Edwards is exactly the go-to scorer they needed (and a few other teams would love!). With that back-court leading the way, Waardenburg playing well and 4 or 5 others playing solid roles, they could again be the surprise of the season.

Perth I still rate as top 3 despite their weekend.

NZ we'll park judgement due to their small sample size.

Brisbane and SEM on struggle street but every other team could legitimately fancy their chances of top 4. A good place for the league to be.

Stats after round 3 are interesting reading too

Minutes per game

Cotton and Doolittle 1 and 2 in the NBL

2 backcourts in the top 10- JJs and 36ers

Vickerman keeps doing Vickerman things- no United player in top 20.
