Cats vs Phoenix, 20th Sept

I pulled the trigger - game thread.

Cotton putting Glover into a world of hurt.

Cats by 9 at half. Random thoughts:
- BC quickly heading to GOAT territory
- Perth playing very NBA, 3pt heavy gameplay
- SEM looked great when Hunter and DWJ are working together
- But everytime a SEM player gets rolling, Kelly benches them??
- Webster awful. Dunno +/- but he has to be Perths worse.
- Cats actually wanted to rebound.
- Hoops members leaving me out to dry by not adding to individual game thread ;)
- Boombox wall sucks the proverbial.....

Neither of SEM imports been that good, other than Walton jnr. Sobey been good and bad, Hunter been great though early fouls hurt to lack of SEM defence. Hurt a lump of a lad but not very mobile.
Doolittle been great, Cotton, Pinder great.

Wow. Pinder goes ballistic, they BC takes over. Almanze looks serious quality. Cats by 17 at 3/4.

Henshell will be a star. Very smooth and versatile scorer.

The incessant music is borderline agonising

Doolittle was just as good as Cotton and Pinder, so good all over the court.

He and Windler dominated the glass, 13 rebs and 10 rebs respectively

Henshall so much better than Webster

Yep, Doolittle is a beast, cats so deep, I'm not certain it was that great a test, while SEM are going to get better and did reasonably good, there D is very ordinary. Foxwell showed a bit and Hunter was excellent.
Gaze is as good a commentator as player.

More minutes for Foxwell
No minutes for Webster

Cats look deadly both ends very impressive despite some sloppy passing and lack of help out of defensive traps late in the game.

Sobeys game has the same make on every team he's been on - 1/3 flashes of brilliance, 1/3 hero ball fumbles, 1/3 stupid fouls and whingeing. Such an overrated player

Perth look good, a lot can change in the season but they could go deep this year

Agree, Cats did look better across the board but if SEM had just effectively guarded Pinder on the perimeter then there is the 9 points just there. Pinder did the same thing in game 1 of the play offs if I recall and then Roth sorted it out. What would some other teams do to have Owen Foxwell on their roster (Cairns, even the JJs at the moment). In just that small snippet he looked so good and it's a shame he is sitting on the pine with that much to offer. Probably SEM is going to score in that range most games and not every other team is as talented as the Cats offensively so SEM should win games especially if they can improve on D. The Cats probably don’t score that heavily against other teams with proper D. Will be a a great test when they play the Kings etc.

The Wildcats interior defence is awful.

Players like Hunter will be given the opportunity to feaston o-boards, put backs and lobs.

Yeah, the Cats have doubled down on the offense-first mentality with this season's roster. Potential for some free-flowing basketball, and also potential for plenty of frustration down the other end.
When you run off a steal or a rebound it's pretty fun. When you try the same thing after fishing the ball out of your own net it don't work so good.

Time will tell. No shortage of talent out there so no excuses.
Willingness to let Ben 10 off the bench in a proper game is positive #1 for me this season.

Agree re Henshall. Also no surprise Rillie is an offensive-minded coach who likes to rely on his perimeter players for rebounding!

Yeah, last night was a vintage Sobey performance in every respect.

Actually think SEM would feel ok about that loss. Cotton and Pinder especially shot the ball out of their minds, and SEM did well to claw back on multiple occasions while playing far from their best.
