Is the NBL Blitz on Kayo Freebies?

The only reason I ask is because I've got Foxtel (ESPN) for the regular season and don't want to be paying for a full Kayo subscription to watch the Blitz.
Cheers

Good question, I've looked this morning and it doesn’t look like it. As PW says get a vpn.

It would be a pretty ordinary decision if true as the Blitz has been on Kayo Freebies the last 3 years. But this season is just a 1 year extension of the previous rights deal and I dare say the NBL had a weaker negotiating hand to just accept a 1 year extension rather than negotiate a new deal either with ESPN/Kayo or new broadcasters so perhaps Kayo knowing they have the stronger hand is now making people sign up to a paid Kayo sub to watch the Blitz.

Opera browser (free to download) has an in-built VPN

The below link lists countries with a deal to broadcastshow the NBL for the 2023 & 2024 seasons, presumably hasn't changed for the upcoming season;

https://nbl.com.au/news/how-to-watch-nbl24

From the lin - "If country of residence isn't listed above, games are available to stream via the NBL's YouTube channel, live and free."

Set Opera VPN to a copuntry that isn't listed and it 'should' be game on.

I've been watching the past few NBL seasons on the NBL youtube channel with VPN set to Singapore. Works like a charm.

Don't be cheapskates, do the right thing and pay for Kayo

Find someone to share with and it's $17.50 a month. That's like 3 coffees these days.

"I dare say the NBL had a weaker negotiating hand to just accept a 1 year extension rather than negotiate a new deal"

Zodiac I make the jump of “Blitz isn't on Freebies” to “NBL must have had leverage”.

It’s the Blitz. I can’t imagine all that many people watch it to rate as a discussion let alone a negotiation.

Just generally I was surprised they did a roll over but they could just be smart about it and be wanting to set themselves up for a really good 3-5 year deal.

I would imagine the following factors might be at play for pushing a big deal by 12 months:
1) More clarity on Paramounts situation
2) Decisions made on expansion which grows the market and value to Kayo/ESPN
3) Potential alignment with WNBL
4) Opportunity to test the Channel 10 main channel Sunday slot - if it goes well it could become a consistent slot and also show growth in numbers

Hopefully they seal something closer to a 5 year deal with better financials that bridges the gap a bit (but understandably not totally) with A League from a Kayo/ESPN perspective and secure perhaps that main Sunday slot on Channel 10 plus select additional main channel games such as Christmas Day, perhaps first game of the season, some festive games etc.

I meant:

Zodiac, I don't make the jump of "Blitz isn't on Freebies" to “NBL must have had no leverage”.
