NBL1 West 24/25 Offseason

Congratulations to Rockingham Flames women and Mandurah Magic men on taking out the 2024 NBL1 West titles.

Hopefully the NBL1 National Titles have full strength teams this year. Keen to see them truly compete with their best players.

The offseason now begins for majority of teams in the West

Hearing that Nix has been extended at the Redbacks for another 3 years. If true, a very interesting move for the club after a wooden spoon and only managing 4 wins with a team that had big $ spent.

I heard that 5-6 teams are chasing Dupree for next season, not sure if he will resign at Willo, as they are offering $$$. I think he just signed in Hungary, but will be back in week 2-3 of next season.

Tom Gerovich, Willeton Tigers local, has just signed a 2 year deal with the Perth Wildcats. Great to see a talented young local getting this opportunity. Congrats to Tom and to the Tigers

Dupree certainly going to be in demand, has Marshall committed for 2025 as well?

Who's on the chopping block coach wise? Nix? Clayden? Both spent big and finished equal last, questions have to be asked, surely? Cockburn would certainly have been better with Cooper still there, was the change worth it? And both Slammers roles advertised, is it just a tick box or are our South West teams genuinely looking for new coaches? Who are the likely candidates?

Will be interesting to see what happens when the dust settles in coming months.

Not fair on Cockburn and their new coach, he was cruelled by injury. Why isn't there more talk around Lakeside? Surely Milat has to go, 2 years an what? Do Joondalup keep Morrell, two years in a row they've fallen short, and clearly one of the biggest spenders the league, more must be expected by the supporter base?

I'm sure if Jonathan Wade (out injured) played in the game against Mandurah then Joondalup would have won and gone on to beat Willetton in the finals. Morrell has done a fantastic job with the Wolves in my opinion.

We don't live in a world of ifs and buts though, do we Andrew? Morell had the budget, the supporters, the whole green machine. Fact still remains, fell short and has done all three years so far.

id expect morell will move
heard he was close to moving on last offseason

nix locked in for 3. how that happened i have no idea

an interesting one will be kal. they had the makings of a great team this year but a merry go round of coaches which impacted their success. van pelt in and out and back in again, then out again. winter stepping in for the first vacancy, smartt for the second stint. van pelt had them winning games but very obvious reductions when he wasnt there

malat has 1 more year on his contract

barr, cooper and clayden youd expect to see back next year. clayden needs to get 2 legit imports next year for them to be competitive. field retired. armour well in decline.

does filpo go again at eagles? the makeup of that team is great on paper but really not lived up to its potential.

what do suns do with trahair? program hasnt really gone anywhere?

petrik, jospeh, nener and utley youd expect to see back in their respective clubs again

Morell an interesting one. Does he leave by choice or get moved on? Agree with Boomer re Nix, but then again, he could sell ice to Eskimos so no doubt he sold it to someone there. Thought I'd read somewhere earlier in the year that Filpo had a 5 or 7 year deal as head coach? Easy enough done when you're the money man of the club, wife is president and so on.
Kal will be interesting, how long did they sign MVP for? Have they confirmed he's done?

What a stupid comment @wildcat_but not TT

Thanks for the cliche. I'm just saying you can't blame the coach for Wade's injury.

Do you think Mandurah would have won without Murray or Willetton without Nelson?

the wolves had enough talent to beat mandurah without wade . everything was in their favour and they couldnt get it done. wolves were at home , mandurah coming off a double header with some notable players carrying injuries . not to mention travelling to geraldton the week before that.I understand your frusturation andrew but good teams and good coaches overcome these things.

Horrible. BWA with another horrible staffing decision. Cockburn are the big winners here.

What is the consensus on TT nowadays.

It wasn't that long ago many at the Cougars weren't happy while hashtagging #family everywhere.

Beard re-signed with Flames
Cook-Greed re-signed with Redbacks
Suns signed Terrico White at 1st import. Will be interesting how he goes. He's 35 now. Anyone know if he's had any injuries lately?

Was just about to speculate about Terrico. If Bryce finally gets naturalised this season.....
