36ers sign Jarell Martin and DP trio

2 roster updates for Adelaide this afternoon- Olgun reporting they've signed ex-King and NBA player Jarrel Martin and they've announced their DP trio of Keanu Rasmussen, Patrick D'Arcy and Fiston Ipassou

Happy with all of these signings. Was hoping we'd see Norwood PF/C as a development player but this signals to me that footy will win the battle for his talents (complete speculation, no inside word)

I like the signing although the knee injury is a bit of a concern. Martin's a better player than Cheatham too. 6-10 and averaged 16 & 8 on the Kings championship team in 2022.

He's a smart player, uses his height and size very well. Not athletic and perhaps likes to shoot from outside a bit too much but but shot 52% from the field and 38% on 3p with the Kings.

It's funny how everyone on here seemed so frustrated with the import situation taking so long, then when it finally happens, this thread gets two replies. I guess most expected this though.

It kind of does have that neutral feeling though. If Adelaide had stolen this guy from Sydney two or three years ago, there would be genuine hype. That's not to say he isn't still in his prime or can't produce at the same level, but there is always that risk the scenario won't be a replica.

Ultimately, genuinly good signing by the club, but just minor reservations on injury setbacks, and plateu effect of tried imports. Of course at the same time, haivng league experience and being proven could be the advantage. Again though, well done Adelaide.

The fact that he may not be fit for the start of the season stinks of the usual sixers lack of due diligence and the whole selection will be a flop

Can anyone explain with the trend of signings how Weston role at Sturt is not a conflict of interest ?

Haha, that term was used in what seemed like every second post on here back in the day.

Rasmussen was already a DP, so not sure there's a problem there.

Darcy is an Australian junior player, probably the most credentialled next to fellow Australian teammate Dodson (who presumably declined as a prospect for the AFL draft).

(Ipassou plays at their rival club, and has been a DP before)

Conflict of interests should always be avoided, but not sure an accusation that they haven't picked the best available (and willing) could be levelled here.

Not sure Weston has much to do with it but the 36ers have always had a close relationship with Sturt.

Currently there is Rigoni, Griscti and DP's Rasmussen and D'Arcy.

In the past there have been a number Smyth, Maher, Holmes, Forman, Jason Williams, Paul Bauer, Brad Hill, Adam Doyle that DP last year Harvey White etc.

I assumed Doyle always played for Forestville?

Darren Ng made a switch from Woodville to Sturt at one point.

The 'Sturty6ers' hasn't been a thing for a good while though (15 years?) It was sort of a New South Wales -> Australian test team situation in the early 2000s, for sure. But look at the gap in time between say, Forman/Holmes and Rigoni/Griscti.
