Who else makes it from Vic?
Casey 1st + Knox 2nd
Keilor 1st + Camberwell 2nd
Maffra - JCC winner

As Casey is the host though, does 3rd from their pool qualify? I believe it was Bulleen that was 3rd.
Or does someone from another state get an invite?

The WA boys are all pretty close.
Willetton are top of wabl and are a very good team.
The hawks and cougars had a really close last game of their pool to determine who would go straight through to the nationals. The cougars reeling back a 9 point half time defecit to go up by 2 only to lose by 2. A draw would have seen the cougars through.

The senators lost to willetton in their final pool match forcing them into the cross over against the cougars.

The cross over was one for the ages with the game going down to the wire. There was some individual brilliance by both teams in the final 30 seconds. The cougars won by 2.

So very close for the teams 2 through 4. It was a bit of an unfortunate day for the flames. In their first game they lost a kid to a broken ankle and in the second game lost a kid to a broken nose. By all accounts made for a long and tiring day.

Very clear, unless something comes out of WA or QLD, Victoria has both u14s Gold Medals at National Championships, very dominant not only in 14s but every age group!

WA is bringing some interesting teams over.
Boys:
Willetton - Very strong top end with a coach that is driving them like they are the wildcats. Sure to rattle some cages. Unsure if they will be able to handle the rigours of the week long tournament with the lack of depth.
Perry Lakes - Lots of potential and the only club with a player returning for their second club nationals in 2 years. Will be interesting to see how they develop toward the tournament.
Cockburn - Decent make up, however lack size. What they lack in size they make up for in spades with shooting. 4-6 guys who can all hit.

Girls:
Warwick - Easily the most dominant team on this side. Brad Armstrong has done plenty of tournaments as well so coaching understanding will be a big boost.

Unsure about the other 2 teams on that side.

Any ideas what's coming out of NSW?

SA teams in G - will improve on classics - format will better suit some SA teams for u14s - as they are not that deep.

South 1-4 finish
Sturt 8-12
Forestville 12-20

Let's see what happens after a regroup posy junior classics

I think based on past years they get 2 teams in each competition. Curious as to where the extra spot will go, I think it goes to a Victorian team based on what I've seen. Not sure who gets it though.

@Sandgroper - Thanks Brad. Just wondering why no mention for Willetton girls given they've beaten the team that’s "easily the most dominant" in the 3 times they’ve played each other (going back to state champs) and currently sit undefeated on top with a % that is 75+ higher than Warwick?

@+ south need to do some work if they want to hit 1-4. they have not played under any pressure in sa and whe they did in njc they were found wanting. not sure how they'll get back on course and i think they might even fall out of the top 4 unless they regroup and find some tougher games to play. however it might be just what they need to kick on properly as theyve been planning this for years now.

As for sturt if they finish in 8-12 they will have had a great comp becuase they are only 2 deep and if they do it will probly be a refelction of a weak comp and none of the 2 getting any injury. forestville will also need to improve if they are not going to be in the bottom 4 but intersting enough they are still above sturt in the district ladder (although they seem to match up well against forestville).

The difference between the 2 teams is that Casey boys are not full of themselves and all the other teams they play against don't wish them to lose because they aren't flogs. A better skilled team as well

Yikes ';', that's a bit harsh need to remember that we are talking about kids here and today's social media hype train doesn't help. Calling kids flogs whether you like them or not probably doesn't belong here.

Now having said that I agree the Casey boys compared to last years Dandenong boys seem to be carrying them selves well, there game on Friday night against Knox showed them that they need to keep working hard and improving each week to win the 3 championships this season (they looked like they had a bit of a NJC Hangover on friday night).

Only one other team i can remember doing the three peet in recent history and correct me if I'm wrong that was the 2012 Melbourne Tigers Boys team that had DJ, Matt Owies, Jock Perry and Jacob Elordi in it right??

I believe the boys had a draw with Kilsyth during the first half of the season before the VC / VC Reserve split (mainly due to missing players due to injury). They did not lose a game in 2022.

The Spectres girls won every game played in 2022.

My sons team has had to play Casey a few times,
Even though the score has blown out each time, it's nice to see no showboating or taunting from the Casey team as these days you almost expect it with most kids these days due to the stuff they see online and try to emulate.

Will be keen to see if they can go through the whole way or not, the coach seems to run almost even court time for most the VC games.
Looking at the Classics stats & blow out results in almost every game, it seems he got another chance to do that there too. Guessing that’ll tighten up towards the later end & at nationals.
Good luck to them

Understood qualification to be:

1x Host
1x 2023 Winner State
4x VIC
4x NSW
4x QLD
3x WA
3x SA
2x TAS
1x ACT
1x NT
TOT: 24

On girls side, Illawarra won last season. Which would leave NSW with 5 teams (4 + Winner), and VIC with 5 (4 + Host). It appears BA has invited an extra VIC team on the girls side.

2024 Girls
6 x VIC (Host)
5 x NSW (2023 Winner)
4 x QLD
3 x WA
3 x SA
2 x TAS
1 x NT
1 x ACT

2023 Girls
6 x VIC (Host + 2022 Winner)
4 x NSW
4 x QLD
3 x WA
3 x SA
2 x TAS
1 x NT
1 x ACT

On the boys side, VIC has 6 teams which is correct. SA has an additional team with 4.

It looks like BA has invited an additional team from the 2023 Silver Medallist state (VIC in girls, SA in Boys)?

Both GF teams get an extra for their State as Queensland only get 3 invited.

BA have also stuffed the pools and seedings as they are all wrong based on last year results.

I thought NT had 2 teams allocated and Qld only had 3 allocated.

Last year in the girls, a NT team dropped out so the additional spot went to Qld as they (Mackay) had finished 2nd the year before. Same situation would apply in the boys as Qld finished 2nd in 2022.

If NT was only sending 1 team this year then the extra spot would go to Vic this year and Qld should only have 3 allocations.

So based on that information:

1x Host
1x 2023 Winner State
1x 2023 Runner Up State
4x VIC
4x NSW
3x QLD
3x WA
3x SA
2x TAS
1x ACT
1x NT
TOT: 24

So the additional the QLD team is the error in both boys and girls?

Yes should only be 3 teams from Qld. BQ should know this. Comical if they have actually invited 25 teams.

NT been struggling to get 1 team. Not sure why NSW gets 4 teams and Qld only 3 since Qld is a stronger state now. Not sure the host team deserves an additional spot anymore given that the events are going to the same association for 2 years and are basically due with contracts etc. Probably should be the Host takes one of the allocated State spots, when VIC take 25% of the spots seems a bit biased. NT only needs 1 spot. Qld should have 4, with a min of 1 from Nth or Sth, NSW 4 teams with a min of 1 from Country or Metro.

Forestville SA Boys came 2nd last year.
Assuming that 2nd NT team didnt come and SA would then get the invite.

my comment about the host should be taken out of a state quote is because the last time the event was scheduled and then held outside of Victoria was 2016. Or perhaps there should only ever be a maximum of 5 teams from 1 state.

The 25th team with the bonus entry in the girls were the Wizards (qld), perhaps they used a spell to get in.
