Whats the greatest All Time steal in an NBA Draft?

Manu at 57 has to be up there with the all timers, especially in the two round draft era.

any others you have in mind?

Another few to look at

Dirk Nowitzki
Chosen with the 9th pick by Milwaukee in 1998 (traded to Dallas)

Michael Redd
Chosen with 43rd pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2000

John Stockton
Selected by Utah with the 16th pick in 1984

Paul Pierce
Chosen with the 10th pick in 1998

Karl Malone
Chosen with the 13th pick by the Utah Jazz in the 1985

How about Michael Redd - Bucks picked him 43rd in the 2000 NBA Draft.

Arenas in 2001 has to be the best of the last decade. He's still only 23 and he's a superstar already. A bit dumb of the Golden State Warriors not to pay him what he was worth when they had the chance.

Yeah, I'm going with Areanas on this one. Manu is up there.

How pissed would the Bucks be, trading Dirk for Tractor Traylor...

Maybe expand this topic and say that Big Ben Wallace is the best ever player to never be drafted.

Kurt Rambis, drafted 58th by the Knicks. 4 Championship Rings over 5000 points and rebounds. Although he never made a three point shot in his career he would have to be up there as an all time steal not to mention cult icon.

Kobe at #13. Although he was comin straight outta high school. Drafted by Charlotte and traded on draft day for none other than Vlade Divac. This was 1996, same year as Nash.

96 was probably the best draft ever tho. marbury, abdur rahim, J O'Neal and Ray allen were all taken. Oh yeah and Mr Iverson himself was no. 1

Eddie #55.... tip for the future.... get off the crack.

Nothing, I'll repeat nothing will ever compare to the the 84 Draft.

Hmm, The Dream #1, Jordan #3, Charles #5, Robertson #7, Stockton #16, Butch Hays (7th round #2).

85 was a better year than 96 as well, Patrick #1, Mullin, Detlef, Oakley, Malone, Dumars, Porter, A.C. Green

92 was better than 96. Shaq, Zo, Laettner, Jimmy J, Horry, Spree, P.J Brown (2nd round).

I never realised Mark Price was a second rounder... that's a great steal.

Cederic Ceballos was pretty handy as a 48 secound round selection.

1986 draft, 27th overall: Dennis Rodman

Looked like just a handy player..... until he burst out in 92 and became the best pound for pound rebounder!

Redd would have top get the nod but the rings are the things and manu made a large contribution to there ship last year. Oh yeah and dallas also got Pat Garrity with the Nowitzki for Tractor Traylor

Vote Dirk 2006 Western Allstar

has to be Stockton & Malone didnt those two become one of the greatest duos of all time.

Hate to say it but MJ's shot against the Georgetown Hoyas in the finals did wonders for him not saying thats what made him but it didnt do him any harm either.

if he didnt make that shot were do you guys think he would have been drafted.

Gotta agree with Got A Wooden. If someone can win 3 or however many defensive player of the year awards, become an all star and be a leading role in a championship WITHOUT GETTING DRAFTED, that has to be a steal!

Shawn Marion too, not bad, given he was drafted by the Suns in 99 ninth in the first round. Not the best steal but a pretty damn good one lol.

Yeah yeah i know. But there are Kobe lovers here lol.

Steve nash... 15th pick.
Dennis Rodman... 28th
Dwayne Wade... 5th
Shawn Kemp.. 17th

Worst ever? Shawn Bradley number 2. Or of course, Sam Bowie.

Come on can't go by Ben Wallace as biggest steal... He is hands down! THE GUY DIDN'T GET DRAFTED AND HE IS A FRIGGIN ALL STAR AND 3 TIME DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD, HE HAS WON A FRIGGIN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP!

But he can't exactly be the biggest steal IN AN NBA DRAFT if he was not picked IN AN NBA DRAFT.

If you want the answer to this you have to go old school.

Spud Webb 87th in the '85 draft?

John Stockton at 14th in the '84 draft?

Clyde Drexler at 14th in the '83 draft?

Mark Eaton 107th in the '79 draft?

Larry Bird the GOAT :) :) at 6th in the '79 draft?

How about Len Bias number 2 in the '85 draft?lol
