The two Perth games are the highlights for me!

Our record so far needs to be taken in context, considering all 3 games so far have been at home, and against bottom 4 opponents.

Gorman & Ciabattoni (and to a lesser extent, Hannan) all being unavailable tonight doesn't bode well for a competitive encounter but I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised.

"Both sides have personnel issues coming into this one. Perth are missing several players, while Southside have their full roster."

Uh, what?

What a comeback from a pretty poor start from the Flyers! Perth have a quick turnaround to play Townsville now. No doubt that will hurt.

I don't recall seeing so much zone played in a single professional game before.

That's true. But the aim of pro sports is to win so credit to that. And Perth could not shoot their way around it. Southside are HUGE. Coach from Perth would be bleeding to have thrown away a 20pt lead.

watch any Miami Heat games PlaymakerMo? New Zealand Breakers?

I wasn't criticizing the use of zone, but rather found that noteworthy in a game where both teams scored 90+ and it was the dominant strategy of the second half.

I have Bluey. Did you watch the game last night that's being referred to?

That was a heartbreaker. Loved the way they went about it, and it would have been great if they'd been able to hang on and get that W. Unfortunate time for Atwell to go 1/8 from 3.
Very happy to see Goodchild step up after a quietish start to the season. More of that please! Also nice to see Potter finally stay out of foul trouble. Much easier to get points & boards when you're not on the bench I reckon.

yes I did PlaymakerMo, thought it was an odd comment considering the amount of zone being played at the elite level these days.

Hopefully my explanation cleared up any confusion you might have had. It is an uncommon strategy to see both teams play zone for almost an entire half.

Would love this to be a breakout season for Goodchild. Right call for her to land with the lynx this year

Bendigo gets it done against Sydney despite Griffin being out. Very nice effort.

George in this game overtook Sporn to become the league's all-time leading rebounder.
Must be getting close to #1 in all-time sooking as well.

I get the WNBL is run on a shoestring budget but are there any outside the box solutions to improve attendance and engagement?

Bit sad the lightning playing in front of a few hundred people (and in a 7000+ stadium).

Luuuc - I think George is already there as biggest whinger & sook in the WNBL! Her use of her elbows is borderline dirty & at some point she is going to cause serious injury to someone.

Very, very strange rotations by Petrik with the Lynx, you have a very hot Attwell in the first half sitting for majority of 3rd Qtr when Fire go on a big run! McDonald having a MARE & just flat out stinking & refusing to use her right hand, Maley back to taking ridiculous & self serving shot selection.

Maley is completely reckless only a matter of time before she really hurts someone badly.

Nice to see Bendigo get the win. Suffered through the Montesano squawking, only to turn the Perth/Townsville game off before it even started - are they seriously struggling for commentators so badly that they'd stick her on a double header? She is absolutely intolerable. Just get Cole to do the games on her own. Even Jenni Screen would be easier to grit my teeth through.

I actually thought Montessano was noticeably keeping it a bit more low key than she normally does. Cole is excellent & I thought they did a great job

Can't watch Townsville games without noticing Steph carrying the ball. No wonder she gets past defenders. Can’t Unsee it now ☹️

I didn't watch last night's game, but Steph actually got called for a carry in each of the 2 previous games (and seemed surprised for some reason!). I've never seen her get called for it before (even though it is painfully obvious to see), so I wonder if the refs have actually been instructed to start calling it?

Don't have a problem with the commentating, I feel like some people are just obsessed with it. Agree Petrik rotations weird, for example playing Maley as much as he was. She was forcing way too much and he never took her off. She's also become obsessed with the refs this year even though she herself fouls constantly and is so rough. Ari majorly exposed for lack of right hand game. Atwell the clear highlight for Lynx.

I wonder what's going on with Maley. A couple of seasons ago she was killing it and was the clear MVP. Now she constantly looks frustrated, takes lots of bad shots and is a flagrant foul waiting to happen.

Reid has been getting away with blatant carrying of the basketball for at least 2 years now, she also doesn't get called for a lot of excessive physical defense on opposing PG’s, especially the way she extends her arm bar on the PG’s hip which gains an unfair advantage. I’m telling you, watch closely...

Front court rebounding options are pretty limited when Potter is sitting with foul trouble (i.e. in nearly every game)

Maley is captain this year, she's supposed to talk to the ref's and given the crowd reaction to the refereeing last night it's not surprising she was in their ears. Whitcomb was the same as captain last year.

The standard of refereeing at lynx games has not been great for a number of years and I'm surprised that there haven't been more issues. I have seen a few occasions where contact has been let go so much that it either results in injuries or players getting upset when things that haven't been called all game get called in the 4th.

Gallant effort from the Caps. Pity it slipped away, but that's inexperience and being a couple of players down for you. It is a good thing for the league that the team on the bottom can push the top team to OT.

I realise Maley is captain, but she isn't talking to the refs on behalf of her team. She's complaining to the refs on her own behalf every time she is called for a foul (after blatantly fouling). I still think she's a good player, just noticed more frustration and poorer shot selection this year. I'd say she's feeling pressure on her performance, as everyone who has had some good seasons tend to feel. I also think once players have a few good seasons other teams and coaches tend to learn how to guard them better and know their game a bit more and it becomes more difficult to continuously be dominant. I'd say she's just feeling the frustrations/pressure, which is understandable.

Commentary spent a lot of time discussing whether Sharp got that shot of in time considering it didn't even go in...
