Mills to ATL

The Atlanta Hawks are trading TyTy Washington, Usman Garuba, Rudy Gay and a second-round pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Patty Mills, sources tell ESPN. Hawks save $4.5M in the deal.

Third trade in past 10 days for Patty Mills lands him with Hawks --- for now. They still have to decide on his future with team this season. His $6.8M expiring contract will continue to have value in deals.

Garuba and Washington are both 21 years old and recent first-round picks.

Atlanta, yuck.

At the least, Patty still has value on a roster as a respected locker room voice. He'll eventually stick somewhere if not with the Hawks. Tbh wouldn’t be surprised if he lands back with the Spurs.

Bummer his time was wasted in Brooklyn, when in hindsight he could’ve went to the Warriors. Kerr is on record saying they chased him.

I agree. I hated him going to Brooklyn from the beginning and wanted him to go to the Warriors. Brooklyn's offensive system sucks, and they were 100% dependent on their superstar. It was a team like the Warriors, not a team like Brooklyn, that would maximize Mills' strengths.

Mills is far from over. While Atlanta may waive him, he's still absolutely got value as a veteran playoff tested bench shooter and locker room guy.

People on here were forecasting the end of Ingles time in the NBA a couple of years ago too, and he's done ok!
