The Tool to retire

was mentioned on channel 7 news this morning that Australia's leader and the best player we have produced was to retire...after thinking what the hell..... why is Brett retiring? i then realised they were taliking about Tool.

i will be passing around tissues a the BP on West Tce this morning from 11am and have hopefully got the MMM Freq squad involved in passing out tissues so that we can all come to terms with the fact that Tool will never be apart of the Boomers again.

Remember last time! Retiring for Heal just means that he's waiting to see which coach he'll be playing for...

Already Boomers coach Brian Goorjian is nervous about Heal's impending international departure, saying it will leave a huge gap Australian basketball urgently needed to address.

"We have no-one at this point in time. Look at the NBL and there's no-one there at the moment who's at the level this (Olympic Games) is," Goorjian said.

"A guy like Shane who can keep you in games against the great teams like Lithuania and the United States is a great point guard.

"We're going to need that, and that's a real concern for the future."

Interesting quote from super coach on the impending retirement...

Goes to show what he thinks of the rest of the current squad I guess??

Did anyone see the game lastnight???

In the final 8 mins of the game, heal was off, and brett tore it up!

He took 5 shots that I saw and buried all of them! Took good care of the ball, and created good looks for other players! If brett can't take over the workbench when the spanner leaves then the garage might as well close down!

Bags hows your car??

Thank Christ the tool is gone. Maher only got late court time because Heal was injured. The side looked ten times better with him running the point.

He is good enough and fit enough to captain us and take over the point for Beijing. He will have to be very diplomatic when asked about court time on his return

Did you hear Gaze when Maher came on?

Said something like:
"This is interesting, Maher plays point for Adelaide 36ers back home, but may be out of position here".

Then Maher prevailed.

At end of game Gaze stated that 'very proud' of Maher's performance and that 'came of the bench to provide great service'.

Stephen Black should have been there in place of CJ.

He will (sorry i could be wrong), He should be Australia's future point guard.

How does Boy Goorj know he's not going to be any good without giving him a run.

Goorj was quoted as saying (pre Boomers selection) that Black was too offensively minded for the guard spot he was looking to fill. Since when is too offensively minded a bad thing (especially if the shots drop). Look at the 4th qtr fadeouts at the olympics?!?

PS Good job by Brett in the 4th, but he WAS playing out of position at international level he should be playing the 2 spot.

Cheers, DJ
