A damning review into the finances of a Melbourne basketball club by the sport's peak body has revealed poor financial management and extensive auditing irregularities.
The Basketball Victoria audit of five years’ of financial records of the Mill Park Pacers did not find "any suggestion of theft, fraud or unlawful behaviour".
However, it did find the Paces, the representative club of the Whittlesea City Basketball Association (WCBA), had a “historic lack of good governance, poor financial management decisions and a lack of acting on issues raised by the organisation’s auditors”.
Will the Pacers survive, and will it impact the current season?
