26 coaches walked out of Nunawading . I doubt they all ended up at Dandenong. It will be interesting to see who get the most team qualifying for VC

Around the grounds on a quick look ...

Dandenong have done exceptionally well with 12 VC teams
Bulleen also, with 10 teams in VC across all age groups and boys / girls
Nunawading have done well, despite coach departures to Dandy
Frankston just saved themselves in cross-overs, but not performed very well during grading so suspect
Waverley are just nowhere (16s are in Met 3, what?)
Melbourne saved by Hawthorn departures, rather than home grown talent
Sandy have outshone local rivals McKinnon (no VC in u14 boys or girls which is a surprise)
Ks are strong - Knox, Kilsyth and Keilor - as are DV who appear on the up
Country teams much better this year - Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo

Waverley are a dysfunctional mess. It's a classic job for mates going on there, and what NBL1 club has the same coach in charge of both Men’s and Women’s and is also the DOC?

It’s a pity because they do actually get a lot of talent through those doors.

They should regionalise VC. Too much country travel expected. It's not reasonable to ask families from south east Melbourne to drive to Bendigo & back on a Friday night (& vice versa)

Geez Melb Boys only have 2 teams in VC.

Dandy and Frankston with 12 teams in VC. Kilsyth and Nunawading with 10.

Keilor the best in the West with 9, now the 5th biggest representation in VC.

Dandy have 8 boys teams in VC - 2 teams in each age group! Frankston have 7 girls teams in VC - two teams in each age group except U18s.

Hawthorn the biggest drop from last season - down to just 1 VC this year.

Hi LC- Old enough to remember when second teams in VC used to happen with only 12 teams. So I'd say the remarkable thing is how few second teams are in VC. I'd speculate that the redistribution of Hawthorn players had an effect.
The recovery of Dandenong is amazing (and I'm not from that club), especially given that last year they had a couple of gaps.

I saw the Waverley 16.1 boys at the EDJBT and grading. They have some potent individual talent, but it seems like the team hasn't bought into unselfish play or committing to playing defense.

Wow, Bendigo, Geelong and Gippsland have done better than Camberwell and McKinnon. Good to see the country teams going well ... some nice drives ahead for many.

McKinnon has 7 teams in VC, or 5 if you don't count the 2 x U20s that made it.

I did not include U20s as many clubs do not even run a program, and many also consider it part of their senior program - and not juniors.

Yep agree with that. Only reason to include u20s would be to pad the number.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this & it’s VJBL related as all the kids involved are in the VJBL. The U16 combine is on today, top 25 boys & girls Country & Metro all competing & the teams are selected then announced at the end of the day.
They needed to be there at 9am & stay at SBC until 8pm tonight!! 11 hours in the gym, they play 2 fully timed games & train for one hour. Wtaf??!! Has BV completely lost the plot?

You can ask but the answer will be based on data from unknown/unnamed sources. Going to say teams 90% selected and just looking for the 9/10 players. Good luck to all on the back of playing round 1 in VC last night

At least they are taking this part of it seriously. Unlike selections earlier in the process. It was pre-cooked by the DOCs.
