Very disappointing result last night. Tassie were just too good on the night. The Taipans have tended to play better away from home this season. Forde commented after the game that he felt the Taipans played tight. One thing Tassie had on the Taipans coming into the game was they had been in the playoffs last season whereas it was a new experience for the Taipans.
They didn't have a great preparation for the game having spent a full day last Thursday getting to Perth and a similar amount of time (10 hours) getting back to Cairns on Saturday then most of the team flew to Melbourne on Tuesday then back to Cairns on Wednesday. Losing, thus not having to fly to NZ today or tomorrow may not be such a bad thing for them however they will have to improve greatly on last night's performance to trouble the Wildcats.
Whilst the Taipans beat the Wildcats in Perth a week ago, I doubt the Wildcats are going to take a win for granted on Sunday (like they seemed to last week) and they won't be too worried about playing in Cairns given they have beaten us by 20+ points here, twice already this season.
I think it's going to be a tough game to win. Hopefully the Taipans can regroup, freshen up a little and put in a good performance. The Wildcats are certainly beatable however the Taipans will need big games from everybody to accomplish that.
