Manek is looking like a down hill skier early. Does not like the physical stuff.

JJ's D is pretty ordinary, but the Cats' is bordering on zero.

Horrible call on McVeigh, certainly no home cooking happening.

JJs by 3 at halftime, total offensive game. First team to play some D should win this. Neither side are going to cause trouble in finals if they get there. Blanchfield zero minutes.

I don't know if Travers will make a good nba player but certainly has future in big euro teams, does all the little things great. Superb game today.

This is very entertaining game, both sides could use a defensive rebounding type four man. If cats can't out defend you they certainly can out score you.

Same as last week. Cats got no legs after 3/4 time. Rubbish scheduling by nbl and worse rotations by Rillie.

Schedule is swings & roundabouts. No excuses there. Unfortunate time to have lost T.Webster but them's the breaks when your roster isn't deep enough.

It was cracking game in the end, Perth need another Travers type player, it's alright to have scorers but there is two ends of the court. McVeigh good today and Doyle came good when it counted. Where to for cats from here, need to win one off the last two from here. Need a partial clean out next season, certainly Wagstaff and you would think Blanchfield are done.

Disgraceful end to the game, homecooking central. That usf was a disgrace. I glover doesn't get a tech for a shove on a dead ball then how can wagstaff just standing there be a usf? Also Gaze saying wagstaffs reputation means he doesn't get calls is bullshit. If it's a charge the ref's should be good enough to call it. They aren't, they are the shit stain on this league as usual.

Disappointing fade out at the end after being up by 8 in the last qtr.

Wildcats now at risk of missing out. Big weekend next week against Cairns and Sydney. Not too sure how far they will progress even if they do make it but always hopeful!

Hopefully this off season will be better than the last two which have been woeful and created some situations that will now have to be undone if next season is to be any better.

It's as predictable as the usual Jacket posts. Cats lose and Anon starts posting blaming a few cherry picked close calls that could have gone either way or the schedule.

Every team would like to play their superstar (if they have one) the full 40. Only Rillie thinks it's beneficial though with the intensity and scheduling of the NBL.

In the end it came down to Tassie making some big shots and Perth coming up short down the stretch.

To blow a 9 point lead in the last on the refs is a stretch.

JJs hung tough played D in the last (at last) and hit shots when it mattered.

Cotton doesn't get rewarded when driving, gets manhandled of ball, commentary literally called it, challeng the ref's to make calls, take out legs, they did, ref's didn't call anything. It's disgraceful. Perth might have lost anyway, the point is we will never know, and the refing is inconsistent and bias to some teams.just like this forum, cherry pick some things said but completely ignore the obvious one that the usf was the nail in the coffin and the ref's refused to call one that was way way worse against Sydney I'm perth... that is a problem for a league and a product.

Hopefully the Cats are smart & stro g enough to take ownership of their shortcomings and look to make improvements.
As opposed to the Anon approach of crying about the refs whenever something doesn't go their way, while staying deathly silent when mistakes are made in the other direction.

Embarrassing

That's bullshit, I have called out their roster constriction, defence or lack there off amongst other things. I just think the reffing is wildly inconsistent team by team and game by game not just Perth games!!. Also there is a real lack of calling out other teams faults, like the game was tied for the majority and it's all perth deficiencies highlighted, constantly, if Doyle and magette don't hit those two ridiculous threes we could have a very different result (cotton missed a wide open one too). Maybe people need to do a better job of compartmentalising discussion topics, just cause I think ref's are shit does not mean everything else doesn't matter.

Anon is obviously a one-eyed Wildcats fan as he whinges about all the supposed calls Perth misses out on in every Wildcats game thread.

It's quite ironic given the rude home cooking Perth always got at home when Gleeson would berate the refs into submission.

Perth is minimum 3-4 hours most places to travel. NBL should not have Perth travelling in a short stint after a game. (or any team.) JJ's had an hour or so flight from Sydney - you cant compare the travel impact, time difference from Perth.

NBL would want Perth's 13k fans in a final series.

My TLDR
- Cotton gassed
- Very weak bench needing a cleanout (Norton, Zunich, Blanchfield , Majok, Wagstaff) - our bench gave 16 points for the game.
- Missing Tai Webster who adds elite assist making and scoring - looked way better with him in the rotation
- Team lacks height relative to other teams - small guards, small forwards, small centres. Need to go athletic and big next season across all spots

Scheduling whining is more weaksauce IMO

If anything the Cats were advantaged more than usual today by the fact that the JJs also played on Friday night just like we did. Proper home court advantage for the JJs would have seen them 100% fresh and waiting for us, rather than coming off a road game.

So we traveled a long way to get there.
How far does *every* team travel for *every* Cats home game? A long way.
Non-issue.

The real problem is that the Cats weren't good enough to put away the Hawks on Friday without asking big minutes of our starters. That was at home and is no one's fault but our own.
The result was a team today that was more fatigued than it should have been.

It's not the NBL's fault that the Cats are getting 40 combined minutes from our entire bench.
Hopefully Danny Mills puts together a better roster next season.

Yeah but every cats game they travel for is longer than other teams. They would average double or triple the annual total travel time stuck in small seats. This isn't the NBA where you get a nice private jet with lie flat seats.

There should be some factor around travel fatigue in scheduling otherwise you give Sydney and Melbourne teams strait advantages over a long season.

We should wherever try and minimise straight up travel fatigue in giving away free wins to the home team. Cant be done always but minimum give 2 full days between a game.

For sure. Fresher teams = better product on the floor.

But the sudden complaining about scheduling after a road loss reeks of weak excuses. it's not the NBL's job to look after teams that grind their starters into the ground. A Friday-Sunday double should not be too much to ask of teams.

Most fans find it easier to attend games on Fri/Sat/Sun, so Fri-Sun doubles are a natural product of that.
Earlier in the season Perth fans were whining about having home games on a Thursday night.
People will whine about anything.

It was never a problem in Gleesons time at the club. Cairns is only slightly worse and nz by the time you go through customs is probably worse.

Get a grip Perth fans , major improvements this season and still in finals race, next season a few more improvements and you'll be back, just stay strong.

Exactly right cant blame the scheduling. The wildcats know the schedule from the start of the season but Rillie is wall papering over his own deficiencies as a coach and needs his best players out on the court constantly. There is good enough talent on the bench to work with and give his starters more rest throughout the game but he cant get the best out of his squad. On Friday won by 20 points and could have brought on the bench players sooner than the last minute of the game especially when knowing they play again in two days. OHB and Harris played well in their limited minutes and could have played more in the second half. Norton and blanchfield have been out of form but its up to the coach to get the best out of his players. It appears that they are losing even more confidence by the way he is managing them in their slump.

Schedule was an issue when the flight was delayed last week vs sem, asking a pro team to play less than 9hrs after landing is not want we want to see.

Perths schedule cruch also highlighted due the the breakers forfeit in a quiet home stretch, then placed back in a busy time obviously not intentional but combined with the short rotation (yes due to crap bench, see Mills) it's a factor, not necessarily an excuse.
