Breakers v Hawks 19/01

Early game (for Australia, anyway).

Hawks up by a heap at 1/4 time, Breakers seem kinda lost. Which is weird - they're at home.

Mango still proving you can't teach intelligence

Something smells in NZ, I suspect there’s issues with Brown jnr and it’s affecting the rest of the team

I was reading the NBL headlines this morning and had to laugh at the News Corp ones:

Australia erupts over insane match winner

Aussie basketball goes into meltdown over star's insane matchwinner

Insane match winner stuns NBL!

Um, yeah... no.

Hoops didn't even react to it.

Not even mad at losing to the Hawks.
The Hawks and their fans deserve some wins and NZ haven't been the same team since Covid swept through the players and staff.

Hopefully NZ can turn their form around but even if they don't this season has been far more enjoyable than the last two especially as I've got to watch them play live.

Insane match winner, I can't remember a pull-up half-court shot to win a game like that anywhere. Ridiculous. Loved the looks on the Breakers fans at the game, knew they should be disappointed but were too amazed!

Harvey had enough time to run an actual play but elected to go hog mode.

I feel like I'm reading one of those News Corp articles mentioned earlier.

The Breakers are holding onto the glory days of Abercrombie too long. He shouldn't really be in the rotation. I get it’s hard deciding not to play a club legend but it needs to be done. The breakers record before he came back was scintillating. His defense is horrible and offensively he isn’t much either

Where would Harvey's shot rank in the all-time NBL match-winners?

Playoff winners probably trump it due to their importance, but I'd have it ahead of Jackson's heave in Perth because that was large degree of fluke IMO, Harvey pulled up and shot it with a regular stroke and was nothing but net. Can't remember seeing a deeper jumpshot, especially for the win!
