Kings vs Hawks, 15 January 2023

Game underway. Hawks up 10-8. Kings scrappy early at both ends of court. Hawks to put up their usual fighting display.

Pretty poor game really. Kings look crap. Mucking around with the ball. Dumb passes. Hawks fighting.
All even at 37's at the 1/2

Home cooking down the stretch here is disgusting, kings don't need it.

Game improved from half time.
Bummer for the Hawks.
Kings 84-79.
Now 2-21 the Hawks. The ladder position doesn't really show how competitive & the effort they’ve put in every week without having any real blowouts against them.
Coach doing a good job.

Kings very average but just no how to win, unlike the previous game the refs just seem to have to find calls, the moving screen on Mathiang could have got call the other way. Enjoyable game though.

Despite only winning a couple of games, would Hawks fans be more satisfied than Sixers fans? Both are car wrecks, but what car would you want to be in, the VT commodore that you're happy with if it lasts the 3 months rego or the pricey Mercedes that you worry about parking in the Coles carpark?
Maybe they should have gone for a quick 2 instead of really tough shots.
Proves Kings aren't a sure thing, Hawks should never have been in the contest. But Kings could have had Cooks, Walton, DJ out and CJ still would have gotten Sixers blown out.
Hawks have nothing to play for but are still playing harder than a team who should be desperate.
If only Adelaide had some decent assistants, it may even be worth sacking CJ now to see if a spark could somehow be lit to maybe save season.

Hawks fans probably happy enough, bullets and sixes fans got a lot to complain over. Bullets were a highly fancied team at season start, just like sixers, bullets failure's already, sixes just about done.

Solid 4th Q, I thought the Kings were about to put their foot on the Hawks' throats before Harvey and Dent almost put us away. IMO the Hawks all night did a good job of not letting the Kings play their style of basketball - jamming them up the court, and being active in the halfcourt on D and stopping Cooks in particular from ever finding his rhythm.

Bless the cotton socks of those little Hawkies for once again not giving up and keeping things absolutely respectable.

This year's Hawks are surely the unluckiest team in NBL history.

Could they beat the 1988 Geelong Supercats? ;-)
