Felt like we were playing All Blacks: Buford

Buford was not impressed with the refereeing in the win over the Breakers.
___

"It felt like we were playing the All Blacks out there with the physicality of the game," he said.

"Freedom of movement went totally out the window.

"Every play, they're grabbing, holding ... every single time, on a screen, on a cut, we just couldn't move as they were holding us."

The Breakers led the foul count 20-8 but Buford believes the discrepancy would have been even more lopsided had every single infringement been whistled.

"I know the foul count was heavily slanted one way but it could have been double that, honestly," he said.

Yep, he is still quite young for a head coach and has a lot of maturing to do. His sideline antics speak for themselves.

Sydney were 16-2 once the refereeing got cleaned up last season, so Buford knows if the trend of tighter officiating since Round 6 this season continues it benefits his team.

If the refs go back to ignoring the cylinder and freedom of movement like the start of the past two seasons (and on Thursday), it benefits New Zealand should they meet in a playoff series later on.

It's a public battle Phil Smyth used to fight, knowing a cleanly-called game would make it hard for Goorjian's super-physical teams to defend Adelaide.

It's alright for kings to grab, have moving screens but not others. Maybe have a look how Bruce defends, Cooks pushes off to get an advantage at the ball. He should not throw stones in a glass house.

It's nothing to do with right or wrong, or fair or unfair, it's about trying to get the game called the way it best suits you.

No one is pretending Sydney don't push the rules themselves, but the cleaner the call the faster the game and the more opportunities to score inside, that's Sydney's bread and butter.

Know your role Buford, your not main focus of the Kings your players are! All show & no humility whatsoever...

Guy is a humiliation. At a time when no one respects US because it's president and his admin are complete clowns, you have some guy jumping up and down like a babboon every time he doesn't get the call he wants.
